  • Perfect base for a large group or family to enjoy the Yorkshire Dales

Property code: OC-DS1049

Look out over the dales towards the Addlebrough plateau from this Yorkshire retreat near Askrigg. Sleeping six guests, the three-bedroom, stone getaway nestles in picturesque countryside, 6 miles from Hawes and 11.5 miles from Leyburn. Perfectly positioned for walks and cycle rides through the Yorkshire Dales National Park, it has a wood burner for autumn and winter evenings in, and a stone terrace for summer dining.

Make your way into the cottage by taking a step over the threshold and into the generous lounge/kitchen/diner. Spread out in here to make a cup of tea to enjoy on the comfortable seating in front of the TV or at the table. Take turns at preparing meals, chatting to your friends or family then laying the table when it is time to serve up. Choose to wander through to the lounge, with its beautiful wooden and beamed ceiling, after dinner. Fire up the wood burner in here when the weather is cold, play games together or watch the Smart TV. A utility cupboard and a drying cupboard are also downstairs. Head up to the first floor at the end of each busy day to enjoy a good night’s sleep in one of the two king-size bedrooms or the super-king-size, which can also be made up as twins if discussed at booking. A family bathroom and a family shower room are also up here. Spill out into the garden on warm days, relaxing on the terrace as the BBQ heats up and the children play on the lawn. There is parking here for three cars.

Visit Aysgarth Falls, just 4.5 miles from your base. Head into Hawes to wander the charming streets and tour the Wensleydale Creamery. Take the children to the Forbidden Corner, 12 miles away, with its labyrinths and tunnels to explore.

Lovely cottage with superb views both from the garden and nearby short walks. Well set up for toddlers which was our main reason for selecting it. Really appreciated the garden box of games!

The cottage was very comfortable and very well equipped. The location is quiet with plenty of bird life and lambs in the nearby field. The sofas were really comfortable and the beds equally comfortable. The kitchen was very well equipped and a pleasure to cook in. Walks from the door were excellent and we visited Aysgarth falls and Richmond Castle Read moreand Easby Abbey. We would recommend this cottage hot anyone wanting to explore Wensleydale. Hide

Overall a nice property, clean and pretty well equipped. Couches and Beds were comfortable. Would have liked a 2nd shower and downstairs loo, but other than that a nice stay for a week.

The spacious cottage had beautiful views and was convenient for the village of Askrigg. The little laminated maps of local walks were very helpful. The drive from Newbiggin to Swaledale along the road behind the cottage was spectacular.
