Have a fairy-tale stay at this cottage set within a splendid, 17th-century hall. With a castle-like style, complete with a tower and castellations, the three-bedroom retreat sleeps five guests. It offers single-storey accommodation, welcomes four-legged friends and has a small garden for basking in the sunshine. It is well located for anyone wishing to walk the Pennine Way or explore the southern swathes of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Let yourselves in at ground-floor level, hang your coats in the entrance then follow three steps down to the impressive reception hall. The lounge/kitchen/diner will quickly become the heart of the holiday home during your stay. Here you can prepare delicious meals in the kitchen area, with its useful central island, using the fresh Yorkshire produce you have bought. Dine together at the table then make fresh coffee in the machine and carry it over to the lounge area to enjoy in front of the TV. As night falls, bid your friends and family good night and make your way through to the king-size bedroom, with en-suite bathroom and TV, the twin bedroom, with en-suite shower room and TV, or the single bedroom. There is also a family bathroom. Step outside and climb 12 steps to reach the garden, where you can dine at the picnic table and enjoy the fresh air in the private seating area. There is private parking with this property.

Walk just under 1 mile to reach the pretty village of Malham, where you can have lunch or perhaps afternoon tea. There are a number of renowned beauty spots close to the village. See the magical waterfall of Janet’s Foss, for example, a 2.5-mile drive or 2 mile walk from your cottage. Visit Malham Cove, a curved rock formation, the same distance away, and Malham Tarn, a glacial lake, 4.5 miles away.

Location was beautiful, with great views and lots of local walks. It is remote, so a car is required for days out, and the local roads are often single track with passing places. The accommodation was a bit cramped for five adults. Three bath / shower rooms have been squeezed in, but the layouts are poor. One shower room is tiny, and to get to theRead more basin in the main bathroom you have to squeeze through a gap between the bath and the toilet. Small changes would make a difference such as bins and mirrors in each of the bedrooms. Kitchen was well equipped, but we did have issues with the microwave (blew up and had to be replaced!) and the electricity tripping and being unable to find the fuse box. We added a note to the info folder for future holiday makers. Hide
