Property code: OC-Y110

Explore the magnificent North York Moors from this enticing cottage in Pickering. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom, dog-friendly, period hideaway sits at the heart of the Yorkshire market town, just over 1 mile from the fringes of the national park. It is also within easy reach of shops and eateries and comes with a delightful courtyard garden where you can unwind on warm days, and a games room and wood burner for relaxing nights in together.

Step inside the charming retreat to discover beautifully finished accommodation with a friendly ambience. Make your way into the lounge to recline on the comfortable seating in front of a crackling wood burner and a good film on the Smart TV. Make your way into the country-style kitchen/diner to prepare roast dinners with Yorkshire puddings in the electric Aga and then gather around the table together. From here, take two steps up to find a utility space. The games room, where you can play snooker and watch an alternative TV, is also downstairs. At the end of each day, climb the steep, cottage-style staircase up to the first floor to treat yourselves to a fabulous night’s sleep in either the double bedroom or the twin. There is also a family shower room up here.

Board a steam train along the heritage North York Moors Railway from Pickering and go back in time as you soak up the splendid scenery around you. Venture into the national park on foot to follow picturesque walking routes and see historic sites, including the Roman camps at Cawthorn, 5 miles away. Plan a day out to the coast at Whitby, 20 miles away, where you can visit the historic Whitby Abbey and beautiful coastline or Scarborough, 18 miles away, where you can swim in the sea, visit the remains of the medieval castle, and take the children to family attractions, such as the water park.

The cottage is beautiful to look around with every amenity you could need. Plenty of space for 4 people staying. The beds comfortable, the shower worked perfectly, all the equipment worked properly. The Smart TV was a bonus as was able to pick up and stream. Wi-Fi reliable. Parking at the back was great. Plenty of space, not having to worry aRead morebout getting a space and felt really secure. I had my gate helper with me, so easy to get in and out. The location is brilliant as it sits on the crossroads of the two main roads in this part of the world, so you were straight out on your journeys. Plenty to do in Pickering -the castle, the railway and the best find, the church on the hill. I would strongly recommend a visit here. Plenty of places to get food in the town - restaurants, cafes, takeaways - Cappelman's Fish and Chip restaurant was great. They now have a Lidl which meant getting food for the house was easy. Overall I fell in love with the property and Pickering and really want to come back with other family members Hide

A beautiful cottage in a great location, with lots of homely touches. Good tips about where to eat, and within easy reach of many attractions. We would certainly stay there again if holidaying in that part of England

This is a comfortable cottage, ideally located for the centre of Pickering and as a base for exploring the area. It might not be suitable for less mobile persons, as there are steep and narrow steps up to the main bedroom. Otherwise, it can't be faulted in terms of the facilities provided, including the safe off-road parking for up to 3 cars.

Lovely, well-maintained property in charming town ideally situated for exploring the area. Information folder very helpful and 'welcome' gift basket much appreciated, especially after our long journey down! Highly recommended.

Lovely cottage in a great location - very quiet but right in the centre of Pickering. Instructions to find the cottage were very clear and the cottage was as expected from the website (in fact a little more spacious than expected). We had a lot of fun using the pool table too. Only suggestions for improvement would be providing larger bath towels aRead morend having some facility for glass recycling (appreciate that the recycling issue may be outside the owners' control). We had a fantastic holiday and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Pantiles Cottage to friends. Hide

The cottage was very comfortable and in great location, the off street parking was very welcome. The cottage does not have a washing machine and could possibly have benefitted from a few more cleaning products (washing up brush etc)/spare bin liners but we had a wonderful stay

Front door lock still not turning without a lot of fiddling and pushing. The same as when we stayed a year ago and left a note pointing this out. Having to use the rear door all the time was a bit of a pain !

The aga in a heatwave was really uncomfortable. The cottage could have been a cool refuge but we was too hot especially at night. The towel rail is on super hot all the time and makes it unbearable. Everything else was lovely but I'd only recommend it as a winter break cottage.

Well appointed and larger than expected. Aga in a heatwave was challenging ?? Only missing some bits and pieces to allow a clean /mop midweek would have been useful with dog. No mop and had to dismantle and clean hoover and filters before it would pick up anything! Minor point though and enjoyed our break!

Excellent property. Keysfe instruction could be clearer as you have to go to the rear to get in and the safe is in the shed on the LEFT as you arrive not the RIGHT

The equipment in kitchen was a bit sparse, eg no scissors, no containers for cooking/heating in microwave. As we eat out mainly, the aga was a bit like "does a fish need a bicycle" and the unnecessary heat it belted out during the warm spell we had made the house uncomfortable.
