Property code: OC-DS1010

Situated on a handsome lane framed by drystone walls and sheep-filled fields, this cosy little cottage provides a delightful retreat in rural Yorkshire. Experience a real sense of peace and quiet when staying in this adorable abode, spending time with your feet up by the wood burner indoors or sunning yourself in the sizable garden that surrounds the accommodation. The property, which is dog-friendly by the way, invites four guests to stay in comfort together. Spend time plotting waymarked walking routes to the surrounding Swaledale beauty spots or take a trip in the car to visit the enlivened town of Richmond, just 16 miles away.

Feel instantly engulfed by the country charm of this place when stepping into its farmhouse kitchen. With stone-flagged flooring, low-hanging beams and antique-style pine furniture, this kitchen/diner space offers a real provincial feel. A stable door separates the interior from the sunny garden with a patio and table for outdoor dining. Back inside, find the first of the two bedrooms on the ground floor, alongside a bathroom with luxurious underfloor heating. The second bedroom and an additional heated bathroom are just upstairs on the first floor. Sitting beside them is the inviting lounge with soft seating, a wood burner and a Smart TV.

Plan to stay up late and enjoy stargazing from the garden, even looking out for the Northern Lights when the conditions are right! There’s plenty to keep you busy in the daytime, also, including a trip to Hawes (11.5 miles) where you can explore the famous Wensleydale creamery. If food is your passion then take a trip to Reeth (5.5 miles), a local village with a popular Friday market that’s packed with local produce. Whilst in this area, take a walk up Calver Hill (5 miles) to admire the dale from a height.

A lovely cottage which felt like a home not a rental property. Thoughtfully and tastefully furnished. Fantastic bed and linen. We and the dog appreciated the large secure garden.

One of the best cottages we have ever stayed in. So comfortable. All the amenities were great , the house heated up really quickly when needed. Bed sheets were so soft, View is out of this world

Very comfy cottage. Sitting room chairs a bit saggy and I stubbed my toe a couple of times on the hearth which is only slightly raised and easy to miss as it is on route to bookcase and desk in corner of room.

Beautiful barn conversion in a lovely location. Very quiet on a single track country lane with only the very occasional passing car or tractor. Large, secure garden with loads of space ( and long grass ) for our dog to explore. Caution if you have a small terrier as there are rabbit holes in long grass a dog could go down. The cottage is well equRead moreipped with a comfortable lounge area and beds. Two excellent pubs within walking distance and numerous walks, both along the valley and on the fells. Our car didnt move all week! Highly recommended Hide

Quiet location. Cottage is comfortable and clean. The enclosed garden was ideal for our spaniel . The only issue we has was with cows in the lane which made it difficult to leave the property at certain times of the day.

We had a lovely week here, the area is stunning with great walks nearby. We found the upside down aspect of the cottage really cute and liked the kitchen and the fact that it still looked a bit like the original barn. Especially important, the bed is really comfy!
