Brush up on your grammar before booking a stay in this handsome former schoolhouse at the heart of Yorkshire’s Hawes. Complete with opulent dĆ©cor and antique-style wooden furnishings inside, this marvellous property provides an unforgettable place to stay for any group of six guests. Well-suited to those hoping to embrace hiking, cycling and more thrilling outdoor sports, the property is set deep within the walking territory of Wensleydale and the wider Yorkshire Dales National Park. For those eager to take their trip at a slower pace, however, there are also plenty of easy-going attractions both in Hawes and in surrounding towns and villages.

Fabulous decorative elements including ornate mirrors and plush seating options deck out each and every room of this two-storey house. On the ground floor, discover an ever-inviting lounge with ample comfortable seating, an electric fire and a TV – the cosiest spot for curling up together after your day of adventure. For those who elect to eat in, the ground floor is also equipped with a kitchen and a separate dining room for preparing all your family’s favourites. As the night draws in, venture up to the first floor to find three bedrooms and a family bathroom. Each bedroom is presented with soft linens, far-reaching views and its own TV, a real joy to wake up to as each morning comes.

Although completely rural, Hawes is a bustling little town with shops, eateries and attractions all just a short walk from your doorstep. Find out about the area’s rich local history from the museum or take a trip to the creamery to find out how world-famous Wensleydale cheese is made (both 0.5 miles). This ever-scenic area is awash with wonderful waterfall beauty spots, so plot out a route to admire Hardraw Force (1.5 miles), Cotter Force (2.5 miles) and Aysgarth Falls (9.5 miles) nearby.

Beautiful place to stay, we were very lucky as the weather was fantastic. Cottage is a beautiful find, kitchen and dining room are downstairs, bedrooms are off the living area, which was good for us with having small children. The only downside of this cottage is there isnt any outdoor space. It would have been lovely to have a small garden to sit Read morein with the children during the day or late evening. There is a lovely, clean park right next door, and the museum is a very short walk away, it was a good day out, lots of activities going on and free for children, small fee for the adults. Lots of great local pubs, restaurants and ice cream parlour (is a must) also a local SPAR just a short walk. No designated parking- but there is free parking just outside, it does get busy, but there is also more parking a couple of minutes up the road. The cottage is well presented, has everything you need. The only thing Id mention is if you need a travel cot, the mattress isnt provided. Its a place place to stay and extremely well situated. Would absolutely recommend Hide

We had a lovely week at the Old Grammar School, couldn't fault the cottage. Very clean and had everything we needed and more. Parking opposite the property was no problem, although we only used our car two days! So many local walks, the Dales museum is worth a visit and Wensleydale Creamery is a must! Sunday roast at the Wensleydale Pantry was eRead morexcellent, but book ahead. Hide

Comfortable, cosy and excellently equipped cottage. Friendly host with good communication. Plenty of room to spread out and relax, 5 minutes walk from all the pubs in the village, and views out over the hills. Would definitely stay again
