This stylish home in historic Whitby is an ideal retreat for a family or group of friends seeking an escape to the scenic Yorkshire coast and countryside. A great choice year-round, Whitby is known for its long sandy beach and delicious seafood. The atmospheric ruins of Whitby Abbey can be reached by climbing the 199 steps from the old town. In addition to the town’s mix of boutique shops, traditional stores, tea rooms and fine restaurants, numerous festivals and fairs are held throughout the year. These include Whitby Folk Week, the Whitby Regatta, and the twice-yearly Whitby Goth Weekend.

Enter this gorgeous three-storey property by climbing two short flights of stairs and pass through the attractive wood-floored hallway into the beautiful and inviting living/dining area. Here, original wooden panelling adds a touch of grandeur to this comfortable room. Two sofas and two armchairs offer plenty of places to relax and chat, with a Smart TV next to the feature fireplace for evening entertainment. The kitchen features all the appliances you need to make meal preparation a breeze. Upstairs, you’ll find two bedrooms – one double and one twin. Both have stylish en-suite shower rooms. A further flight of stairs takes you to the splendid king-size-bedroom under the sloping ceiling. This floor also houses a sleek bathroom with a free-standing bath. While there is no outdoor space at this property, Whitby’s sandy beach is within 1 mile of the property for seaside strolls. Parking is available in public car parks within 250 metres.

Explore the North Yorkshire Moors National Park including the magnificent waterfall at Mallyan Spout or visit the picturesque seaside gem of Staithes, where you can go fossil hunting on the beach, both within 10 miles. Nice and clean, good location. But you have to bring your own toilet rolls and dishwasher tablets as owner only leaves one roll per bathroom and four dishwasher tablets. We were a family of six adults so not nearly enough for one week.

Beautiful quirky old apartment, felt like we were in a sailing ship! So well placed for lovely cafes and restaurants in Church St, Bridge St and surrounds - brunch at Mr Cooper's Coffee House and dinner at The Edge and Cosa Nostra were particular highlights. Close to the Abbey, and just a short walk across the bridge to the town and beach. Really wRead moreell equipped, spacious rooms. The only downside for us was noise from seagulls (but it is a seaside town!) and reversing delivery lorries outside in the early morning - the only reason for marking down on comfort. Parking is a real challenge in Whitby, we had 2 cars and ended up parking for the full week in the small council car park in Church St just a 5 minute walk away. We didn't manage to find any W spaces, and they were more of a walk away anyway. It was around 10 per day for the car park and saved the stress of trying to re-park after being out and about. EV chargers there were regularly blocked by ICE cars but I did manage to charge. We walked around Whitby, took the bus to Robin Hood's Bay for 2 each way and had a trip on the NYM Railway. The bus and train station are very easy to get to on foot and we would have likely used public transport for any other outings. Whitby is lovely for a short break. Hide
