Located in the heart of Hawes, sits this two-bedroom stone-built character cottage. With the Yorkshire Dales on the doorstep, it’s an ideal base for keen walkers plus two dogs looking for long walks and easy access to amenities.

Comfortable furnishings and local artwork on the walls give this home a pleasing and inviting personality. The lounge is the perfect spot to unwind with its large armchairs, sofa, and window seat. After a day out exploring, pour yourself a drink and enjoy a film on the TV or cosy up in front of the wood burner. There’s even underfloor heating for added comfort. A dining table seating four people overlooks the lounge or for a more casual bite-to-eat step through to the kitchen and enjoy a snack at the breakfast bar. The kitchen also overlooks a seating area with chairs and a TV so the chef in the family can be part of the conversation while preparing meals. The property’s neutral tones continue upstairs where the two bedrooms are located. Featuring a king-size and a double bed, both bedrooms are light and airy with homely extras including TVs, bedside tables, and lamp lighting. Outside, the walled garden with its furniture and neat lawn is a good spot for basking in the sun.

Hawes is a picturesque market town with plenty of cake shops, tearooms, and a weekly market. For outdoor enthusiasts, there are plenty of walking routes straight from the door including the 9-mile Hawes Mosaic Trail and 10-mile route to Aysgarth Falls. Alternatively, the less energetic can visit the Wensleydale Creamery, 0.5 miles away, and spend the day learning about cheese making and sampling the famous cheese too.

Old Penny Bank is a lovely cottage, good facilities within the cottage and a good location for Hawes and the Yorkshire Dales. Unfortunately the lorries going past did wake us up early, mainly due to the road surface changing from tarmac to cobbles outside the cottage - but this is obviously not the fault of the owner and is unavoidable.

The cottage is right in the centre of Hawes and in an excellent location ( it is right on the main road so bear in mind that there will be traffic and people walking past). We found the cottage to be well presented, with a lovely kitchen room that had a welcome pack! The washing/tumble dryer machine came in very handy after muddy walks. LocatiRead moreon was a plus, with lots of walks on the doorstep, plus the amenities of the town a few minutes walk away. There was a lovely butchers and lots of places to eat. Many nice places to visit within a hours drive. We would definitely recommend this cottage. Hide

Lovely cottage in beautiful village of Hawes. Great location was nice to hear the river while sat in the garden. Walks available straight from the cottage. Plenty of places to eat in Hawes, The Chippie was great as was Fountain Inn and White Hart Inn.

Very comfy house and good location for the town etc. Nice garden to sit in beside the waterfall and were lucky enough to be able to get a parking space just around the corner. There is a lot of through traffic lorries and agricultural vehicles which u might hear from 5am if like me you like a window open, but no big deal

Everything was fine my only small complaint/feedback would be one of the towels left was stained/soiled & the toilet roll holder was nearly falling off the wall. But nothing that spoilt the holiday.
