  • Countryside views overlooking the Yorkshire Dales

Property code: OC-DS940

Light, bright and spacious, this popular family-friendly former steam sawmill in the Yorkshire Dales National Park is a great base to explore the local area, with a suntrap courtyard garden for relaxation. Across the road from the property you’ll find the Wensleydale Creamery, an exciting experience for cheese lovers to watch the products being made before sampling them in the tasting room.

At the heart of this retreat is the living room, boasting an impressive open fire for cosy evenings spent with the family, cushy sofas for comfort and beautiful exposed beams overhead. The snug room offers a place for rest and relaxation be it reading a book or watching a film by the glow of the electric fire. At mealtimes, the modern kitchen is equipped with all you’ll need to fix up a feast, with dual-aspect windows allowing natural light to fill the room. Gather together in the traditionally styled dining room to share stories over breakfast, lunch and dinner to really make the most of the quality time you have together. On the first floor are all four bedrooms, starting off with a twin room boasting an en-suite shower room and scenic views out of the two windows. Next are two chic double bedrooms, one of which has an en-suite shower room, and a single bedroom which is perfect for younger guests. Completing the property is the family bathroom where you can take a long soak in the tub, or hop in the shower cubicle to refresh after a long day. In the garden, you’ll find a picnic bench and set of garden furniture surrounded by mature plants, a lovely spot for al fresco dining or your morning coffee.

Avid walkers will love the variety on offer just a short distance from your holiday home, with the long-distance trail of the Pennine Way (1 mile) offering more of a challenge, whilst the local waterfall walks of Gayle Force and Aisgill (8 miles) are great for a more leisurely stroll. The market town of Hawes is well worth a visit and a short walk away, with weekly markets and a lovely selection of tearooms, independent shops and restaurants to choose from.

Very roomy and comfortable. Kitchen very well updated and stocked. Cool house overall but was great when the weather turned so hot. Beds very good quality, and all linen. Possibly replace or paint the dark brown doors everywhere.

This is a great cottage for a family, with lots of space, places to visit and things to do. Two rooms with TVs, games to play an books to read. Facilities were great, with fridge, washing machine, dryer and dishwasher.

A comfortable and cosy cottage. Kitchen is excellent - very modern and well equipped. A good location for travelling to attractions around the Dales. A shame the weather cannot be controlled! We saw the sun one day the rest was extremely rainy!!

The cottage was lovely and clean, but the smell from the heating was rather overpowering. The cottage is in a beautiful part of the dales with magnificent views. It would make a perfect base for rambling.

This cottage is just amazing, yes a little dated in places but that doesn't spoil anything, everything worked to a high standard, that's all you need. We love the fact everybody has their own bathroom. The kitchen is so well equipped, everything has been thought about. The open fire is amazing ! The location is also fantastic, Hawes is beautifuRead morel and to be able to wander down when you feel like it is fabulous. Obviously the cheese factory on your doorstep also helps ! Highly recommend!! Hide

Spacious house with good parking and easy access to Hawes. The owner has put child gates in place which is great as the dogs are not allowed upstairs - many rental cottages dont do this which is a personal annoyance. Whilst the property is a little dated for example the bathrooms, everything is really clean and basic welcome pack provided.

Cottage is in a fantastic location with easy access to shops and pubs. Amazing walks on your doorstep. Kitchen is modern and has good equipment. Bathrooms need updating. The en suites are very small and one was starting to smell a bit. Lounge is cosy with a good log fire. Very little storage in bedrooms especially in one double that has no wardroRead morebe. Garden needs some better garden furniture to enjoy it. You can enclose the garden by closing gates but it is a through way to other properties so dogs and children would need watching. Hide

Good location and parking. Spacious house with unusual layout. Good heating system, comfortable beds and plenty of hot water. Only downside is the lounge which gets very little daylight because of the conifer hedge. Also it is not a warm room but we had a lovely fire most evenings. Generous supply of logs and coal and nice welcome paRead moreck and toiletries. Hawes is a typical Dales town with good shops, cafes and pubs all within walking distance. Beautiful countryside with excellent walking. In spite of the dark lounge would recommend Providence Mill Hide
