This traditional three-bedroom property, located in Horton in Ribblesdale, is a delightful holiday getaway. Overlooking a river and with the Yorkshire Three Peaks and Pennine Way walks straight from the door, this is a good choice for a family or group of friends looking for long hikes.

Built in the 1700s, the ground floor is a mix of old-world charm and homely comforts. After a day of activity, store boots in the hallway and then step through to the lounge. Wooden beams and pleasant decor make this a relaxing space and it’s the perfect spot to unwind with its plump chairs, TV, and pretty window seat. There’s also a wood burner to keep things cosy on chillier nights. A sociable dining table seating six people overlooks the lounge. After a delicious meal retire to the second lounge (one step down) and settle on the plump sofas with a film or good book. For more casual meals, head to the separate kitchen and dine at the pine table. A staircase sweeps from the ground floor up to the first floor where the bedrooms are located. The bedrooms, featuring a double bed and two twin beds, are neat and comfortable and you’ll be sure of a good night’s sleep. There’s also a bathroom on this floor. Outside, a pretty patio surrounded by flowers and shrubs is a good spot for basking in the sun. Alternatively, step through the garden gate and enjoy a coffee down by the river.

Keen hikers can enjoy routes straight from the door including Yorkshire’s famous Three Peaks. It’s a challenging 24-mile route but offers spectacular scenery. Afterwards, be sure to stop for a well-deserved drink and meal at the pub opposite the house. The less energetic can jump on a steam train at Horton and view the beautiful countryside from a carriage.

Our stay was wonderful from arrival to leaving, location, feel of the property everything! Everything you could need was there, the children had a wonderful time and we truly loved being so isolated from the hustle and bustle of real life! We'd return in a heartbeat only minor inconvenience is parking bot definitely not an issue to worry about.

We have just enjoyed an amazing New Year in this beautiful cottage. It is really well equipped and very cosy with open fires and comfy furniture! The cottage is in a perfect spot (next door to a pub) with lots of walks and places to see nearby.

The cottage is a very comfortable for a larger party with plenty of space. And the garden would be a real asset in the summer.

This is a lovely cottage, very cosy and warm with plenty of space. Its in a great location with plenty of walks and places to visit a short drive away. We wished wed had a longer stay.

Lovely cottage, comfortable with plenty of room. Small things: no bread board and veg board needs replacing and the heating was on too high and had a few problems trying to sort it so we just switched it off in the end. Not a massive issue. If you want to walk this is a good base. We visited some lovely places

Was very disappointed not to be able to access the property until 5.30pm especially as check out was 10am. I think this is totally unreasonable , we lost a whole day of the weekend break. I really dont think it takes 7 and half hours to clean a 3 bedroomed cottage . Thought it was a very strange request that we had to strip the bedding before weRead more left, I did not do this as by the time we had got up, had breakfast , cleaned up and packed the car it was 10am and we had run out of time. Even if I had the time I would still have been reluctant to strip the beds in a holiday cottage. I left the property very clean and tidy but bed stripping is not something I want to be doing on a weekend away especially with the early check out and very late check in. Was such a shame because the cottage was perfect for our needs but would not book again because of the timing issues Hide

We found the cottage to be very warm & cosy, very well equipped and extremely comfortable. The only negative issue is the parking situation. When we arrived the landlord of the Crown was vdery keen to tll us we weren't allowed to park in front of the house! Despite thereactually being loads ofspace, which he had fenced off. I can understand hat durRead moreing a busy time of year it might be appropriate for the parking bays to be cordoned off, but it was very quiet and really no reason for his negative attitude Hide

South View Cottage is a delightful, spacious and very well equipped cottage close to one of the main paths to Pen-y-Ghent. Cozy well equipped cottage ideally located for hiking around Ribblesdale. The lovely cottage garden by the river was a real sun trap when recovering from long walks. Great to be able to actually walk from the cottage so the car hardly needed
