This traditional three-bedroom property, located in Horton in Ribblesdale, is a delightful holiday getaway. Overlooking a river and with the Yorkshire Three Peaks and Pennine Way walks straight from the door, this is a good choice for a family or group of friends looking for long hikes.

Built in the 1700s, the ground floor is a mix of old-world charm and homely comforts. After a day of activity, store boots in the hallway and then step through to the lounge. Wooden beams and pleasant decor make this a relaxing space and it’s the perfect spot to unwind with its plump chairs, TV, and pretty window seat. There’s also a wood burner to keep things cosy on chillier nights. A sociable dining table seating six people overlooks the lounge. After a delicious meal retire to the second lounge (one step down) and settle on the plump sofas with a film or good book. For more casual meals, head to the separate kitchen and dine at the pine table. A staircase sweeps from the ground floor up to the first floor where the bedrooms are located. The bedrooms, featuring a double bed and two twin beds, are neat and comfortable and you’ll be sure of a good night’s sleep. There’s also a bathroom on this floor. Outside, a pretty patio surrounded by flowers and shrubs is a good spot for basking in the sun. Alternatively, step through the garden gate and enjoy a coffee down by the river.

Keen hikers can enjoy routes straight from the door including Yorkshire’s famous Three Peaks. It’s a challenging 24-mile route but offers spectacular scenery. Afterwards, be sure to stop for a well-deserved drink and meal at the pub opposite the house. The less energetic can jump on a steam train at Horton and view the beautiful countryside from a carriage.

  • 3 bedrooms – 1 double, 2 twins – one of which can be converted into a king-size on request
  • 2 bathrooms – 1 family bathroom with bath, shower over bath and WC, 1 cloakroom with a shower over a small bath with seat and a WC

Great location for walking the Three Peaks. Next to the pub and a short walk from the railway station too. Cosy kitchen and master bedroom, lots of hot water. A disappointment was the level of cleanliness on arrival.

Beautiful rear garden to enjoy especially if the sun is shining, very cosy old English cottage with comfortable beds with great comfortable sofas to sink into in the evening, lovely pint of theakstons bitter from the pub opposite, a little awkward unpacking and packing in the pub carpark as limited space due to cordoned off areas ,cones and beer baRead morerrels Hide

Stunning cottage in a stunning area. We had a great time. It was a shame there were the pub benches right outside our front door which caused a bit of noise and a lack of privacy. Otherwise, absolutely fab! Thanks!

A very spacious and comfortable cottage with a lovely garden. But somewhat spoiled by insufficient parking and an email from the company half way through our holiday saying that someone had accused us of parking a large vehicle outside the cottage. This had, in fact, nothing to do with us!

We have throughly enjoyed our three night stay in this lovely cottage. Perfectly situated in the heart of Yorkshire Dale, loved being woken up the nature sounds, beautiful garden to sit at and admire the beauty of nature, lots of things to do around. We would definitely be back to stay for longer to explore the more of Yorkshire.

Lovely situation and spacious warm property if a little tired in terms of decor. Cottage garden is beautiful and parking offered was not a problem.

Well equipped, spacious, warm & cosy in February. We have stayed in quite a few cottages in the Dales over the years and this is as good as any of the others. Being a Listed Building with character features is also a bonus for those who live the rest of the time in modern dwellings.

This is a warm, comfortable and spacious cottage, very nicely decorated and furnished. It is convenient for the station and one of the local pubs (where we had a decent meal). There is a lovely garden ending at a delightful stream, and the local scenery and walks are fantastic. We enjoyed our short stay and would definitely return to this cottage.

The cottage is amazing - a real tardis with plenty of room for six people not to be on top of one another. We loved the garden and the river, and the fact that so many walks were available without having to drive. Our two dogs were also well catered for with beds and bowls!! If you decide to sell, let us know!!
