When it comes to eating, you can either sit at the dining table or head out to the patio, made of Yorkshire stone, for some fresh-air dining.
You’ll be spoilt for historical sites to visit nearby, such as the preserved ruined Cistercian monastery at Fountains Abbey (6 miles) and the 14th-century Ripley Castle (6 miles). When it’s time to stretch your legs, head to Staveley Nature Reserve (5 miles) or venture into the Nidderdale AONB, home to windswept moorlands, peaceful woodlands and steep river valleys. A day out in Harrogate (9 miles) comes highly recommended – you can enjoy a posh cream tea and indulge in a beauty treatment and steam at the Victorian Turkish bath.
