This cosy cottage for five is situated in the centre of the pretty village of Grosmont, at the heart of the picturesque North York Moors, yet only 7 miles to the coast. The cottage offers great views of the Grosmont Station and the passing steam trains. Enjoy dinner by the warmth of the wood burner or head outside to the patio and spark up the BBQ.
Enter from the patio and come into the kitchen. This galley-style space has everything needed to cook up delicious Yorkshire meals which can be enjoyed in the dining room next to the wood burner. There’s also a utility cupboard under the stairs here. Settle down in the lounge after dinner and rest on either of the three-seater sofas and watch a DVD on the TV or watch the steam trains go by. The first floor houses all the bedrooms comprising two doubles (one has limited access to one side of the bed) and a bunk bed. All three rooms share the family bathroom and there is a separate WC. Outside, the enclosed patio has bench seating and a BBQ, perfect for al fresco dinners.
Grosmont is a popular tourist destination, famous for its heritage line with connections to Whitby (7 miles) and Pickering (17 miles) and the beautiful main Esk Valley railway line between Middlesbrough and Whitby. There are also various independent shops in Grosmont where you can pick up a souvenir or gift and even an art gallery where you can admire the work of local Yorkshire artists such as Robert Brindley and Ailsa Nicholson. The North York Moors National Park offers fantastic opportunities for walking and cycling, and the historic town of Whitby has a beautiful sandy beach and many tourist attractions, such as Whitby Abbey, the 199 steps, the Church of St Mary, Whitby Swing Bridge and a great choice of boutique shops, tearooms and restaurants.
