Switch off the gadgets and really get away from it all at this high-end hideaway. Accommodating three adults in chic country style, it has a gorgeous summerhouse and offers local fishing rights.
This oh-so-desirable detached residence blends original features with a craftsman-built interior. One of a small number of properties at the head of the Mallerstang Valley, it has a contemporary open-plan layout which means that, once through the porch, you step straight into a stunning lounge/kitchen/diner that’s clearly been created with both style and comfort in mind. Porcelain tiles over underfloor heating and a feature fireplace with a wood burner promise warm toes whatever the weather, and there’s a choice of seating to stretch out on as you watch TV or listen to music on the Bose surround-sound system. A dining suite sits to one side, while at the other end of this space, there’s a pretty, modern kitchen with all the self-catering essentials. Finishing off the ground floor is the bathroom. Upstairs, there’s a beautiful master bedroom with its own TV and an en-suite shower room, and a further single bedroom. The owners of this property are keen to make it a real retreat, so made a conscious decision not to have Wi-Fi (a mobile phone booster has been fitted to the property, however, so a good phone signal, 3G & 4G are available indoors). Recharge your batteries by immersing yourselves in the nature that surrounds – there’s an enclosed grassed and patio area to the front of the cottage, plus a beautifully furnished summerhouse with far-reaching views where you can unwind with a book or watch for wildlife… there’s a TV here, too, if you want to catch up with your favourite programmes!
Guests here have use of a permit for 15 miles of double bank fishing on the River Ure – noted for its Brown Trout and Grayling –which is close by. Six miles away, Hawes is the highest market town in England and home of the world-famous Wensleydale Creamery.
