For magnificent beaches, historical attractions and some of the UK's finest seafood, this apartment on the Yorkshire coast is perfect for exploring the seaside resort of Whitby. This beachside bolthole is located on a quiet, peaceful street, making it a relaxing stay for couples or small families.

This well-presented apartment offers a contemporary open-plan living room/kitchen/diner, which is a modern space for putting your feet up and catching your favourite TV programmes. Rustle up meals in the sizeable, light-filled kitchen and show off your culinary skills with ingredients bought down on the seafront. When it's time for bed, head down to the lower ground floor to freshen up in the family shower room and change into your comfiest pyjamas. Enjoy a mug of Yorkshire Tea, as kindly supplied in your welcome pack, before hunkering down in one of the two pretty bedrooms: an elegant double with charming sloped roofs and a cosy single.

A few short steps take you right into Whitby's thriving town, where you can snake through cobbled streets, dip in and out of independent shops, sample the finest seafood suppers or meander along the harbour, people-watching as you go. Feel yourself getting lost in Whitby's rich heritage with a trip to the spectacular cliff-top landmark of Whitby Abbey. Dive into the abbey's long history, from 657AD to Henry VIII and all the way through to the present day. While away the hours rock pooling and sunbathing at Whitby's gorgeous beach, or travel further afield to explore the fishing village and glossy sands of Robin Hood's Bay (6 miles).

We would stay here again. Great location, everything you need in the cottage. Clear instructions on how to find it. Comfortable bed (always a risk for those with bad backs!). Well decorated. Good shower! I was very pleased (relieved) that the bedding and towels were laundered without fragrant laundry products. We were 3 adults and it was a good sizRead moree for us. Hide
