  • Beautiful sea views from all three floors
  • Private garden and patio perfect for relaxing in whilst enjoying views of Whitby Abbey

Property code: OC-W010

Retreat to this gorgeous Yorkshire cottage and gaze out towards dramatic Whitby Abbey. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom bolthole looks out across the harbour to the headland on which the ruins stand. With three storeys of exquisite accommodation, it is well located for anyone wishing to explore the Yorkshire town and spend time on the beach. Welcoming dogs too, it could suit those wishing to bring a four-legged friend.

Step inside via the elegant front door to find yourselves in the hall, which leads through to a small lounge where you can relax with your books for a spell. Amble on into the kitchen/diner to unpack the tasty Yorkshire produce you have sourced. Put the kettle on for a cup of tea to enjoy with the freshly baked fat rascal scones you have also bought in town. Gather around the wooden farmhouse table in here to chat, take in the views and sit down to the homecooked meals you rustle up whenever you choose not to dine out. Another larger lounge, where you can also enjoy the impressive outlook, is up on the first floor. This is also the perfect place to unwind in front of a good film on the TV. A double bedroom and family bathroom are also at this level, while a delightful twin bedroom with an en suite shower room and sloped ceiling is on the second floor. Have breakfast out in the courtyard garden on fine mornings and linger over a bottle of wine out here on summer nights.

Stroll 350 metres down to the seafront and the sweeping sandy beach, which is popular with families. Venture 0.5 miles, crossing the River Esk, to climb Whitby’s 199 steps up to the abbey ruins. Heading out of town, you can enjoy superb walks through the surrounding picturesque North York Moors.

Our first visit to Loen cottage & hopefully not our last! It's spacious, well equipped, & has wonderful views towards the harbour and the abbey from 3 floors. It's also in a good central location. We didn't need to use the car all week.

Very nice cottage with a terrific view on the harbour and the abbey from all floors. The living room is comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. We found games and beach toys for the kids in the garden locker. Everything you need for a pleasant stay. Good location and quiet at night.

A beautiful gem of a property right in the heart of Whitby with gorgeous views on all levels overlooking the harbour and Abbey. Close proximity to the town and amenities, but still peaceful and calm. Plenty of homely additions to settle in whilst staying, as well as secure outdoor space that also makes the most of the beautiful view. Clear instructRead moreions and guides on how to get round and make the most of Whitby and the surrounding area, and overall very clean and welcoming. Would definitely recommend and book again if coming back to the area. However, it's best to be clear that some with accessibility issues may struggle with some aspects of this property/location. The parking may be tricky, there is a long stay car park just a few short minutes walk up a steep hill/stairs that costs just under 10 for 24 hours. The house is also over three levels with very steep stairs. Hide

This was our third stay at Loen Cottage. It is a wonderful location with fantastic views. The cottage is very quiet yet only 2 minutes walk from town. It's very comfortable and clean and the little garden is an added bonus.

Good accommodation in a great location. This was our 2nd stay at Loen cottage and the property has benefitted from being redecorated and new carpets. It was fresh and clean and offers spacious and well equipped accommodation. It might not have the 'wow-factor' of some other properties but on price and location it's a great place to stay. The cottage was lovely and main areas of use clean enough but there were cobwebs hanging and the shower needed some TLC and overall the cottage would benefit from a top to bottom deep clean but it was good enough for us and we had a lovely relaxed stay and would definitely go back. Would be nice if there was a hairdryer(just as bulky to take with Read moreyou) but overall happy xxx Hide

Loved the view and the location. Unfortunately, it wasn't the cleanest cottage that we have stayed in. The towels and bed linen had a musty smell. Also we struggled to get the cooker, hot water and dishwasher working. Otherwise, it was fine.
