Retreat to this gorgeous Yorkshire cottage and gaze out towards dramatic Whitby Abbey. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom bolthole looks out across the harbour to the headland on which the ruins stand. With three storeys of exquisite accommodation, it is well located for anyone wishing to explore the Yorkshire town and spend time on the beach. Welcoming dogs too, it could suit those wishing to bring a four-legged friend.
Step inside via the elegant front door to find yourselves in the hall, which leads through to a small lounge where you can relax with your books for a spell. Amble on into the kitchen/diner to unpack the tasty Yorkshire produce you have sourced. Put the kettle on for a cup of tea to enjoy with the freshly baked fat rascal scones you have also bought in town. Gather around the wooden farmhouse table in here to chat, take in the views and sit down to the homecooked meals you rustle up whenever you choose not to dine out. Another larger lounge, where you can also enjoy the impressive outlook, is up on the first floor. This is also the perfect place to unwind in front of a good film on the TV. A double bedroom and family bathroom are also at this level, while a delightful twin bedroom with an en suite shower room and sloped ceiling is on the second floor. Have breakfast out in the courtyard garden on fine mornings and linger over a bottle of wine out here on summer nights.
Stroll 350 metres down to the seafront and the sweeping sandy beach, which is popular with families. Venture 0.5 miles, crossing the River Esk, to climb Whitby’s 199 steps up to the abbey ruins. Heading out of town, you can enjoy superb walks through the surrounding picturesque North York Moors.
