Escape to the coast in this fabulous holiday cottage in the centre of Whitby. The property sleeps four guests, making it ideal for small families and couples, and is just 0.5 miles from the town’s sandy beach. Spend your days pottering around the cobbled streets or striding out along the coast path, or head inland to explore the unspoilt landscapes of the North York Moors National Park (approx. 2 miles).
The cottage is accessed via a passageway and stone steps. Enter into the stylish kitchen, featuring statement tiles and a breakfast bar for informal dining. A few steps lead from here to the dining room, where you can host dinner parties and family feasts. Doors open from here to the patio, extending the social space outdoors in summer months. Further steps lead to the lounge, where you can stretch out on the sofa to watch the Smart TV or play a game from the selection provided. Upstairs, you’ll find a bunk bedroom with a single bed over a double bed – ideal for families with young children – along with a stylish recently refurbished bathroom. The king-size bedroom is on the top floor, up a few more steps, and enjoys far-reaching views. Outside, the patio garden has furniture and a BBQ/firepit for al fresco dining, and a small summerhouse.
Step outside the property and straight into Whitby’s bustling West Cliff area, with plenty of shops to explore and independent restaurants serving fresh seafood. The town’s lively harbour is nearby, where you can watch the fishing boats coming and going and also join one of the boat trips to go wildlife watching along the coast. Just across the estuary, via the swing bridge, is the old town, with its cobbled streets, cute boutiques, and 199 steps leading to the atmospheric ruins of Whitby Abbey.
