Savour the truly special ambience of this exquisite retreat deep in the Yorkshire Moors. Sleeping eight guests, and welcoming dogs, the enticing, four-bedroom cottage at Low Mill, 6 miles from Kirkbymoorside, makes a wonderful country home option for large families or groups of friends. With an abundance of character, it features a wood burner for autumn and winter stays and a lovely, lawned garden for your special spring and summer Yorkshire breaks.

Tear yourselves away from the verdant, rolling views to enter this exquisite, former farmhouse. Congregate in the gorgeous, beamed and panelled lounge, where you can stoke up the wood burner in the stone fireplace and find a great movie on the Smart TV for everyone to enjoy. Play games, read your books and decide whose turn it is to whip up the next delicious meal. Amble through to the kitchen/diner to rustle up breakfast, lunch or dinner and to gather round the table to enjoy the fruits of your labour. One of your bedrooms, a sumptuous super-king-size, is downstairs while two more super-king-sizes are on the floor above. One of the super-king-size bedrooms has an en-suite bathroom and another has an en-suite shower room. A twin bedroom and a family bathroom are also upstairs. Enjoy the fresh air and scenery from your lovely, private garden. Dine outside as often as possible and sit out under the stars on fine evenings, with a bottle of chilled wine.

Pull on your walking boots and head straight off on exhilarating group walks from the doorstep. Follow the pretty River Dove and visit Bank Top Kilns, 7.5 miles away, to take in the far-reaching views across the dramatic moors. Head into Kirkbymoorside to stock up on local produce, dine out and browse in the many stores selling antiques.

The farmhouse now sets the standard for others to follow. We enjoyed visiting Hutton-le Hole and Dalby Forrest, as well as other locations too. An evening walk along the river Dove, was a great way to Read morefinish the day.
