The route takes in the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, Eden Valley, Morecambe Bay, and West Cumbria. Appleby-in-Westmorland (4 miles) is home to a 17th-century castle, a choice of pubs, shops and galleries and boasts the Eden Valley Railway and the Carlisle to Settle lines passing through the town. The Northern Lake District is only 13 miles away; enjoy a trip to Pooley Bridge on the banks of the famous Ullswater. Stroll along the shore, hire a boat or hop on a cruise and take in the stunning scenery before stopping off for lunch in one of the local independent eateries.
