Breathtaking views are prioritised in this first-floor apartment in an elevated country cottage in the Cumbrian village of Bolton. Close to the River Eden and with the vibrant town of Appleby-in-Westmorland just a drive away (4.5 miles), couples or small families are well positioned to enjoy a host of activities from this fantastic single-storey base, including walking, bike riding, fishing and savouring delicious food and drinks in local pubs. Four guests are invited to sit either outdoors or in, planning an endless array of adventures with fields in view and the peaceful sounds of bleating sheep in the air.

Original barn features including stable doors and low-hanging beams feature throughout this first-floor apartment, adding to its country charm. Large windows and smartly positioned skylights flood the space with natural light and keep things bright and optimistic, particularly in the lounge/diner with its impressive picture window. Benefiting from an incredible view, you’ve got the option to switch the Sky TV on or simply sit and admire the view as the wood burner-effect electric fire warms your toes. Along the hallway, past the galley kitchen, a king-size room and a twin bedroom share a spacious, well-appointed shower room. Moving outside, the garden, shared with neighbouring properties, is an outdoor escape, offering outdoor seating and an abundance of grassy lawn space.

Owing to its Cumbrian location, this property is conveniently located for exploring both the Yorkshire Dales National Park (6 miles) and the Lake District National Park (7 miles), meaning adventure is always assured. It’s close to the Great Asby Scar vicinity (10 miles) at the top of The Dales – a wild area of high ground that’s littered with fascinating limestone and offers plenty of incredible vantage points with views that reach as far as the Lake District.

A wonderful stay, the place was fully stocked with everything required and Edith couldn't have been any more genuinely kind and helpful, she even lent us (without us mentioning it) a couple of hiking sticks as we'd neglected to bring our own. I'm sure she would have given us something from her own place if we'd have found anything amiss. it was an Read morepleasure to stay there, we'd definitely go back. it has a beautiful view from the wide front room arched window, and some friendly horses. This is a beautiful and charming barn conversion, boasting spectacular views across the Cumbrian fells. It's well presented, cosy and comfortable. The ceilings are quite low however along the sides of the barn so be mindful of this, and the narrow galley kitchen is rather snug. Nevertheless, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, in this lovely home Read morefrom home. The owner was very warm and welcoming, and gave us lots of great ideas for places to see. Super location for walking with many footpaths. Visited nearby places eg Dalemain house, Larch Cottage etc. without going into the Lakes. Delicious food at local pub. We would recommend that written in the description of the property it should state "Not really suitable for people over 6 feet tall due to lack of head room. It would be lovely if there was a space for sitting out in the evening
