A gorgeous Grade II-listed barn conversion set on a working farm just 9.5 miles from Helmsley, one of the North York Moors National Park’s most popular market towns. An ideal base for active families and groups, this dog-friendly cottage features a spacious lounge, a welcoming kitchen/diner, a gravel courtyard garden and easy access to attractions including Rievaulx Abbey and the Cleveland Way.

The two-storey stone barn is one of three on the farm’s accommodation complex and is surrounded by attractive farmland bordered by distant mountains between Helmsley and Stokesley. Exposed stone walls and high, beamed ceilings are found throughout its bright and airy interior, with characterful soft furnishings laid out across flagstone and carpeted flooring. The barn enjoys underfloor heating which enhances the comfort of the lounge, which features a wood burner and inviting sofas. The kitchen/diner next door is a fantastic social space with stunning original features. Stairs in the lounge lead up to the first floor, home to an impressive super-king-size bedroom and a twin bedroom. Both are beautifully furnished and are blessed with original features. A shower room stands nearby. The raised patio garden outside is a tranquil and sheltered spot with comfortable seating and enjoys views of fields and moorlands beyond.

The farm is equidistant to Stokesley and Helmsley (both within 10 miles), two bustling market towns in the national park that have been attracting visitors for generations. Helmsley offers an array of dog-friendly shops and traditional pubs, an attractive walled garden and a delightful castle. The area is a haven for walkers, with numerous routes including the Cleveland Way, within 5 miles. One of North Yorkshire’s most famous historical attractions is Rievaulx Abbey (8 miles), a must for history lovers.

Comments are going to vary according to the physical ability of the visitors. The main seating in the lounge could be higher more especially the single chair. The glass tables are fine but the one by the wall on a plinth with light was unstable and it needed care when using it as an assist in placing any weight on the side nearest the wall.

Truly beautiful location and superb accommodation, only noise in the evening is from Curlews, Geese and Pheasants. Veronica and her husband couldn't be more welcoming and have created an incredible holiday location.

Excellent cottage, boot room entrance ideal, then you walk into the lounge and the kitchen which can only be described as providing the wow factor. Underfloor heating was brilliant. Didn't use the log burner but wood for one use was provided and it would look fantastic. The second shower room and toilet is down stairs. This was locked, unavailable.Read more If you need this make sure you ask for it, we didn't need it so didn't bother. Would definitely recommend and we intend coming back next year. Hide
