A cosy cottage sitting among the peaceful and picturesque countryside next to Gouthwaite Reservoir, this makes the perfect base for friends or family looking to relax and explore the wonderful Yorkshire Dales. It also has a kitchen/diner and a wood burner in the lounge for cosy nights in.
The cottage has been thoughtfully designed and is equipped with everything you need for a relaxing break. Go through to the lovely stone-floored lounge, with timber beams, a wood burner, elegant sofas and a Smart TV where you can while away evenings. Enjoy cooking and sharing meals in the kitchen/diner after a long walk. The two bedrooms are upstairs, a king-size room and a twin room – both have wooden floors and original beams and share the family bathroom. At the front of the cottage, there’s an enclosed, walled and gated patio with somewhere to sit with a drink in the evening. There’s also a shared lawned area next to the stream with picnic benches for enjoying al fresco drinks and nibbles.
Visit the market town of Pateley Bridge (6 miles) where you can go for riverside walks and sample the town’s shops, cafes and restaurants. The Nidderdale Museum (6 miles) and the impressive caves at Stump Cross Caverns (10 miles) are both worth exploring too. You can go birdwatching and for walks at Gouthwaite Reservoir, which you can see from the cottage. There are many more gorgeous walks in Nidderdale and the Dales and Nidderdale Way passes right by the cottage. Head to Harrogate to indulge at the Turkish Spa and Betty’s tearoom (20 miles), Brimham Rocks to see incredible rock formations (10) and the ruins of Fountains Abbey (15 miles).
