Located in the North York Moors, this idyllic cottage in the centre of Thornton-le-Dale overlooking the village square is perfect for a couple or a small group of friends who love walking and having shops, delis, pubs and cafes on their doorstep. The cottage has gorgeous original features, a lawned garden at the front and a seating area overlooking pretty Thornton Beck too.

The charming cottage has been beautifully furnished to complement the exposed brickwork and wooden beams. Step into the lovely, light lounge. It’s smart and welcoming with plenty of space on the sofas and window seat to sit and watch the Smart TV. Go through to the kitchen/diner where you’ll find everything you need to prepare meals and a dining table and chairs for enjoying your creations. Upstairs, there are two pretty bedrooms, a dual-aspect double room with wooden beams, and a sweet single room, along with the family bathroom. Heading outside, you can sit and watch the world go by from the front garden or in the seating area next to the beck where you may get to meet the resident ducks and squirrels.

Get out and discover the beautiful, rugged scenery of the North York Moors on local footpaths, with lots of pretty walks starting from the village centre. Explore Thornton-le-Dale, home to boutique shops, cafes, delis, pubs and a bakery with an ice cream parlour. Head to the bustling market town of Pickering (2 miles) to pick up dinner ingredients and visit the castle there. For a great day out, the theme park at Flamingo Land Resort (7 miles) is lots of fun, and the seaside towns of Scarborough (15.5 miles), Gothic Whitby (20 miles) and York (26 miles) are all within easy reach.

Fantastic 2 weeks in William George Cottage, beautiful and peaceful. Beck running at the side of the cottage, ducks and plenty of wildlife to see. William George is a wonderful cottage in a fabulous location. The cottage has everything you need and more. The hosts (Dave and Sandra ) are very thoughtful and the welcome pack appreciated. The cottage is next to the beck and you can feed the ducks. I was lucky enough to see the kingfisher. Lots of walks from the cottage also close to the coast. We had a very relaxed stay in William George Cottage in October. The cottage was extremely cosy and well equipped and the hosts were really welcoming. One could easily stay put in the village as Thornton le Dale has lots of lovely eating places with local supermarkets less than 3 miles away in Pickering. We have just spent a wonderful week in this fantastic cottage, Dave and Sandra have gone above and beyond to make this a 5* plus holiday home. Pretty cottage in centre of village, right next to a tea shop and a chocolate factory. Oh how my waistline has suffered!!! Beautifully kept and very welcoming, with a Welcome basket and a gin bar!!! Not many places have one of those!!! Truly a special place.

Lovely warm cosy cottage , full of charm in a picturesque setting. We had a great week, enjoyed feeding the ducks and relaxing around the cottage, location also central and ideal for exploring the area. If we could give more than 5*we would certainly do. The cottage is amazing, home from home, in beautiful surroundings. The river runs at the side of the cottage with plenty of wildlife to watch. Especially the friendly ducks who you can feed. Lovely welcome pack for you with necessities a lovely gesture, eg bread milk crisps biscuits apple juice. The pictures especially the outside did not, for Christmas, do the property justice. We were both taken back by how inviting the property was for real. On entering we instantly felt at home. We had no issues with any room or appliances at all. We absolutely loved our stay in Forge Cottage. It was beautifully appointed, had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay & the little extras were an added bonus. It was perfectly positioned in the village, set back from the main road, and close to a selection of shops in the gorgeous village.
