This newly converted farm building is situated on the edge of York, an ideal retreat for a city break, a walking holiday, or a day at the races.

You’ll find this plush barn conversion in a pretty village location, only 5 miles from York. The property is perfect for small families or groups and features a homely lounge/diner, a contemporary kitchen/diner, and a small patio garden at the rear. It is the perfect base to explore the Yorkshire Dales National Park, North York Moors National Park and attractive towns including Harrogate and Knaresborough.

The two-storey brick barn stands off the village green behind a gate and has lost none of its original charm in being brought up to date to meet the expectations of modern visitors. The barn’s interior boasts stylish soft furnishings and fixtures that blend beautifully with original features, including exposed wooden beams. The warmly lit lounge/diner is blessed with comfortable sofas and a table and chairs, while the bright kitchen/diner offers a breakfast bar and plenty of work surface space. A large family bathroom and two bedrooms - a spacious double and an equally inviting twin - are found upstairs. Large doors in both downstairs rooms lead into a small patio garden with a comfortable table and chairs ready for al fresco diners.

Upper Poppleton is typical of the many attractive villages that surround York and is great for essentials and pubs. York (5 miles) is renowned for the cultural and historic attractions on either side of its ancient city walls, while the elegant centres of Harrogate and Knaresborough offer a blend of natural wonders, eateries and independent shops (both within 25 miles). The Yorkshire Dales National Park and North York Moors National Park offer breathtaking landscapes that are popular with cyclists, nature lovers and walkers (both within 25 miles).

Model Farm Stable is a beautiful holiday cottage in a perfect location. The host and neighbours were lovely and we couldn't have asked for anything more. The house was very well equipped and was very comfortable. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone.

This cottage was really lovely. It was clean and very comfortable. Loved the location. Such a beautiful village. It was an 8 min walk to the train station and only 6 mins on the to York. There was also a bus station within a min walk. The 2 local pubs were about 2 mins away. The food was great at both of them and they were very welcoming. Lovely holiday property with small (patio) garden nestled amid other sympathetically restored (former) farm buildings near the village green in the quintessential village of Upper Poppleton, York. Perfect location with very easy access to York being a short distance away. Owners were very friendly and helpful during our stay. Highly recommended.

A bit more instructions with regards to heating and kitchen equipment usage, apart from that everything about the cottage and the owner was most satisfactory. Really enjoyed staying in this village,and settling into country style life. A lovely property and very welcoming hosts. In a perfect location for ditching the car for a while and exlporing York =, Leeds and Harrogate by train. Pubs in the village are welcoming too.

Wonderful dog friendly week away in a dream of a cottage. A perfect holiday with my partner and the dog. Very near a park and ride into York city centre - well worth it over driving in and trying to find parking.

The Model Farm Stable is perfectly situated for a holiday to York. The stable is very cozy, the beds were comfortable and the kitchen well stocked to prepare meals. There was a good selection of games and books to choose from which we thought a nice touch. We were able to catch the train to York station and from there it is an easy walk to the MinsRead moreter and other city sites. This is a wonderful holiday home. Having stayed in the area many times over 20 years this is the best location we have ever found. Minutes from a train station that goes direct to York and many surrounding areas. Also on a bus route to York. Harrogate, Leeds, Whitby and more are within an hrs drive. This is a very spacious, comfortable, quiet, well equipped cottage. Kitchen is lovely, wifi worked well, as did the Smart TV. A washing machine is available in a separate building closeby. Good parking and right near a bus stop that takes you into York centre in about 20 mins and they run every half hour. There is a convenience store and 2 pubs witRead morehin a few steps. The cottage was spotlessly clean, very comfortable, and in a perfect location. The local pubs offer very good food, and the stop for the bus into York is very close to hand, with the train station not too far away either. Visiting other towns in the local area by car can be done so with ease. The hosts were warm and friendly.

Beautiful building in a beautiful location. Extremely clean, comfortable and well equipped. This was our second stay at Model Farm. We were welcomed back by Mr Garland on arrival. A great location for visiting the surrounding areas, ie York, Harrogate, Knaresborough, Malton, Whitby. This accommodation is a gem. Beautiful and newly refurbished listed property with lovely well equipped sociable kitchen.. Very comfortable beds and really clean in a peaceful village but with quick access to York by train. The cottage was very clean, newly refurbished and in a great location. The village itself is very nice and only 15 minutes in the car or one stop on the train to the centre of York. The station is 5 minutes walk from the cottage.

An interesting modern conversion of old farm buildings, well situated to access the York ring road for days out by car. Spacious both inside and out with local facilities on the doorstep and a retail park just minutes away. Bus and train to York within walking distance. Highly recommend.
