A terraced cottage with a contemporary but cosy interior in an enviable location. A great base if you are looking to explore and venture into the Yorkshire Moors National Park and Yorkshire Coast.
This terraced cottage in the stunning countryside is just 2 miles from Great Ayton, the boyhood home of British explorer, Captain James Cook. An ideal base for exploring the Cleveland Hills, North York Moors National Park and the Yorkshire coast, the family-friendly property features spacious living areas, a south-facing patio garden and easy access to scenic footpaths.
The two-storey cottage stands on a quiet cul-de-sac overlooking undulating fields banked by wooded hillsides. Its interior is bright and contemporary, though there are original features, such as the fireplace in the lounge, scattered about its welcoming rooms. Entering via the boot room at the rear of the cottage, visitors will find there is plenty of room for everyone to unwind in comfort. The lounge has comfortable sofas arranged around the wood burner, with a large window off to one side. The kitchen is long and narrow, giving foodies plenty of room to work their magic. The dining room is just beyond the work surfaces and features an imposing table and chairs at its centre. Up on the first floor are an inviting double bedroom and twin bedroom, both featuring plush carpets and plenty of storage space. Across the landing is a stylish shower room. The south-facing patio garden features a table and chairs and offers elevated views of the stunning landscape beyond.
The footpath outside the cottage is a great route for visiting Captain Cook’s Monument, and there are further tributes to the explorer in Great Ayton (2 miles). This attractive village has green spaces, plenty of shops and pubs, and is within 3 miles of Roseberry Topping, one of the most famous peaks in the Cleveland Hills and indeed the wider North York Moors National Park. Stokesley (5 miles) is one of the area’s many attractive market towns.
