The nearest beach is at Saltburn-by-the-Sea, 16 miles away. This is a popular spot for local surfers and is often quieter than the neighbouring resorts of Whitby and Staithes. The town also has a lovely collection of traditional seaside attractions, including a cliff lift and miniature railway.
