A warm welcome awaits at this period cottage in the Yorkshire village of Brompton. Sleeping four guests, the property makes a great base for couples and small families. You’ll find beautiful countryside walks in and around the village, and you can also join the long-distance Cleveland Way or Coast to Coast Path nearby. Just off the dining area is a cosy snug – the perfect spot for pre-dinner drinks. After dinner, retire to the inviting lounge to watch a film in the glow of the roaring wood burner. The three elegant bedrooms are upstairs, one of which has an en-suite bathroom. A gorgeous shower room rounds off the accommodation. Outside, accessed via a couple of steps, is a south-facing, enclosed patio where you can dine alfresco on a summer’s evening.

Brompton boasts a friendly pub and a village shop, or you can hop in the car to the nearby market town of Northallerton (2 miles) to dine in one of its many independent eateries. The town also has a thriving high street packed with quirky shops and boutiques to explore, as well as a regular market selling local goods and produce. The property is less than 30 miles from the Yorkshire Dales National Park, where you’ll find iconic beauty spots such as Aysgarth Falls and historic sites including Fountains Abbey and Richmond Castle.
