You’ll find beautiful countryside walks in and around the village, and you can also join the long-distance Cleveland Way or Coast to Coast Path nearby. Family attractions near the cottage include Lightwater Valley Family Adventure Park (22 miles) and Wensleydale Railway.
The 19th-century terraced cottage, which enjoys views of the village church, is full of character and charm, with beautiful, exposed beams and stonework and a collection of antique-style furniture. The country-style kitchen/diner is the social hub of the house, with all the equipment needed to rustle up hearty feasts and an elegant dining area overlooking the garden. Just off the dining area is a cosy snug – the perfect spot for pre-dinner drinks. After dinner, retire to the inviting lounge to watch a film in the glow of the roaring wood burner. The three elegant bedrooms are upstairs, one of which has an en-suite bathroom. A gorgeous shower room rounds off the accommodation. Outside, accessed via a couple of steps, is a south-facing, enclosed patio where you can dine alfresco on a summer’s evening.
Brompton boasts a friendly pub and a village shop, or you can hop in the car to the nearby market town of Northallerton (2 miles) to dine in one of its many independent eateries. The town also has a thriving high street packed with quirky shops and boutiques to explore, as well as a regular market selling local goods and produce. The property is less than 30 miles from the Yorkshire Dales National Park, where you’ll find iconic beauty spots such as Aysgarth Falls and historic sites including Fountains Abbey and Richmond Castle.
