Set along the stunning western edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, this impressive farmhouse is a spacious, relaxing and friendly holiday home for eight guests seeking a charming rural retreat.

A chocolate box exterior is paired with exceptionally well-presented, luxury interiors in this standout choice on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. Peace and privacy are assured when staying in this detached farmhouse, a place surrounded by verdant meadows and never-ending fields with some wild river pools close by to admire. It’s just 2 miles from Sedbergh, an appealing Cumbrian town known for its selection of independent bookshops and is just 8.5 miles from the Lake District gateway town of Kendal. Bring the whole family along to experience the splendour of this place – this property hosts a total of eight guests and is dog friendly too.

Wander up the pleasant garden path through the enclosed, grassy garden to reach the property’s front door. Once indoors, find a multitude of exemplary spaces to enjoy sociable evenings in, including a sunroom, a snug and a main lounge with a TV, seating and that all-important wood burner. The kitchen is a farmhouse-styled favourite with stone-flagged flooring, all of the mod-cons required and a central island to centre family life around. Step through an arched doorway to reach a dining table where meals can be enjoyed together. Pass the downstairs bathroom with its feature sink before moving upstairs. Each of the four bedrooms is attractive and spacious, accompanied by a second bathroom on the first floor.

Wander through rugged country roads to reach Sedbergh where old English pubs, quality restaurants and a handful of markets selling artistic wares co-exist. On the edge of the town is Farfield Mill (3 miles), a former Victorian wool mill which now holds exhibition spaces and studios. For walkers and bikers, discover the Howgill fells, mosey along the banks of the River Lune or tackle a portion of The Dales Way (both 0.5 miles), following this pathway east to Dent (7 miles) or west to Burneside (10.5 miles).

We enjoyed our holiday. This is a suggestion only not a criticism very dark despite the many lights! For our party (maybe not every party) the downstairs room beside the bathroom could be converted to an en-suite bedroom/study. Then another bedroom upstairs could be converted to become another family bathroom? Our group was semi reluctant to come Read moredownstairs to use the lower bathroom. Great house & great location. We really enjoyed our stay it is central and easy to get to the lake district. The enclosed paddock was great for walking the dogs. The house had everything we needed and the owners were very nice.

Lovely holiday, beautiful location. Kids loved the gardens and the play area. Lovely walks down to river and owners were very nice and not at all intrusive. Lots of room in the property and well equipped. Dog loved it! Lots of space for him to run. My grandkids adored the chickens and loved feeding them cucumber, lettuce and tomatoes. The cottage was a perfect break and extremely dog friendly. A welcome pack awaited us on arrival which was much appreciated. The cottage was warm, comfortable and most importantly clean .The location was stunning and a perfect spot to plan our daily walks. We would definitely return .

Fabulous farmhouse, has everything you could need. Lovely kitchen/sunroom. Garden fantastic and enclosed, great for our two dogs. Access to a lovely field with a mowed path, great for walking/dogs. Lots of outdoor play equipment, bowls, football nets, footballs- brilliant for youngsters (and us older ones!) Plenty of space, 2 TV's. very fast wifi (Read moreappreciated by teenager with us!) Wonderful, Brilliant and Fabulous. Fantastic setting with wonderful views all around, beautiful garden with the occasional chicken passing through. Surrounded by fields of sheep and to top it off , a wild flower meadow. The more daring of us swam in the river at the bottom of the field, a blessing in the heatwave! The cottage was perfect. We have just returned back from a family stay at the Garth Cottage celebrating my sisters birthday. Wow what a lovely place!! Beautiful cottage, facilities and surroundings. Really couldnt ask for more. The children loved all the play area including football goals and tree swings and the field was ideal for our dogs. Lovely cottage excellent for dogs because of the stone floors in the cottage, fully enclosed garden and fabulous field. There are loads of walks close by and plenty of places to visit can definitely recommend

We visited for a special birthday to surprise a family member (8 adults + 2 dogs). We had a fantastic short stay and were impressed by the quality of all aspects at the farm. The kitchen was brilliantly equipped, the seating/living areas comfortable, bathrooms excellent and garden perfect for letting the dogs outside safely. Lovely local walk. Sad Read moreto leave! Hide

Garths Farm was everything I expected and more! The cottage was spacious, warm and comfortable. The decor was lovely and all fixtures and fittings were quality. Highly impressed with the kitchen equipment, everything you need. Great having the enclosed garden and use of the field, the dogs loved it. A lovely cottage, hope to return.

The cottage is beautiful and very well equipped . It is in a beautiful setting and having access to the field was perfect for as we had several dogs with us . It is close to the village of Sedbergh which is great for a meal out and any shopping required . It is well located for visits to attractions and visits Kirkby Lonsdale , Ingleton and Kendal.Read more We had a lovely stay and would happily return. Hide
