Located in the idyllic Cumbrian village of Warcop, this picturesque end-of-terrace cottage offers lovely holiday accommodation perfectly situated for exploring the Pennines, Dales and Lake District.

The idyllic village of Warcop is perfectly placed, with the North Pennines just a mile to the north, the Yorkshire Dales to the south (5 miles) and the Lake District to the west (18 miles). The village has miles of glorious walks and bike trails, with both the Eden Valley Railway and the Carlisle to Settle line passing nearby. Warcop is also ideally situated for keen walkers following Wainwright’s A Pennine Journey. The nearby village of Sandford (1.5 miles) has a welcoming pub, or you could head to the bustling market towns of Kirkby Stephen (5 miles) and Appleby-in-Westmorland (5.5 miles) which is home to a 17th-century castle, an annual horse fair and a choice of pubs, shops and galleries.

A couple of steps lead up and into this bright and airy holiday cottage. The light hallway has plenty of space for coats and muddy boots before leading you into the cosy and relaxing lounge. With plenty of comfortable seating, a welcoming open fire and Smart TV, this is a great space for you to unwind in at the end of a great day out. Exploring the ground floor further, the light-filled kitchen is a pleasure to cook in, complete with fan oven and ceramic hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. The dining room has plenty of space and a large bay window allowing plenty of light in. The ground floor also has a utility cupboard and WC. Heading upstairs, there are two tastefully decorated, airy, fresh and relaxing bedrooms. The master bedroom features a double bed and plenty of storage space, while the second bedroom has a small double bed which is ideal for one occupant but can be used by two people. There’s also a bookshelf-lined study on this floor, with a desk overlooking Crooks Beck as it babbles along the road. The cottage has a stylish bathroom with slate flooring, a bath, a wet-room-style shower and a WC.

Stepping outside, the enclosed back garden features a patio and a raised section with a lawn and shrubs. This is a lovely spot for a morning coffee or al fresco meal in the evening. Lovely cottage and lovely owner. The only downside was noisy heating that left the house too cool during the day. Not a problem if you're planning on going out every day but an issue if you want time to just chill out with a book or in front of the TV. The open fire was great but quickly eats through firewood so factor in the extra expense. There aRead morere no shops in the village but plenty in Kirkby Stephen a few miles away. Great location for exploring the Dales or the Lakes as the A66 is nearby. Hide

Good location and helpful owner, managed to visit Carlisle (cathedral roof fascinating) , Hadrians Wall, Penrith, Brougham Castle (not a lot to see as it is ruined now) - Brougham Hall- worth a visit - as well as Ullswater. Local towns of Appleby and Kirkby Stephen worth seeing too. Nice local circular walk to Sandford.

We had a lovely weeks stay here after attending a fabulous wedding at Eden Barn. The cottage was very clean and had a very well-equipped kitchen. The owner was very friendly and met us with the keys. The location was good for us too: we managed to visit Appleby, Penrith, Carlisle, Acorn Bank, Alston, Brough, Hadrians Wall, Ulleswater, Pooley BridgeRead more etc from here very easily. The weather was great and we both enjoyed a glass of wine whilst sitting in the little back garden! Hide

We loved everything about the cottage. It was comfortable, especially the beds, well laid out and well equipped. There was a garden for sitting out when it wasnt too hot. Watching the rabbits and the ducks on the brook from my bed was entertaining.

We had a super holiday at this cottage. It made a great base to explore Cumbria and the Pennines. The beds were comfy and it was spotlessly clean. Kitchen really well equipped and great bathroom. The small study was very useful as I had to work a few hours and the WiFi worked fine. Would definitely stay here again.
