Property code: SZ455

Perched on the edge of the North Pennines, just a few miles from the Yorkshire Dales National Park (4 miles), this Cumbrian cottage offers never-ending opportunities for adventure in the fabulous countryside of the north. The pretty end-terrace abode has been lovingly updated with comfortable furniture and features to create a restful place to stay for three guests, ideal for a small family or a couple seeking that little bit of extra room. Explore walks from your doorstep amongst the breathtaking backdrops of the Eden Valley or take a short drive into Kirkby Stephen (5 miles) to find perfect starting points for long Yorkshire Dales treks.

A warm and welcoming countryside aesthetic shows through all four corners of this two-storey cottage, with soft accents and antique-style furniture dotted throughout. With its open fire and Smart TV, the lounge is a splendid space to cosy up together when night falls. The best evenings are enjoyed with an excellent meal to look forward to, so rustle up something delicious in the kitchen next door and serve it up in the designated dining room. If the sun continues to shine into the evening, step into the grassy rear garden for an early evening drink before moving up onto the first floor to retire to two double bedrooms.

Flowing from Cumbria down into the Yorkshire Dales, the River Eden is just 1 mile from home. It offers plenty of opportunities for riverside walking and plenty of salmon and trout fishing in its waters. The river is a key feature in the picturesque Yorkshire town of Kirkby Stephen and encompasses the whole Eden Valley. To see the valley without dusting off your hiking boots, discover the Eden Valley Railway with a stop in the village of Warcop, half a mile from home.

This is a very quiet area with no shops. You would have to travel to Kirby Stephen or Penrith so might not suit everyone but we found it a lovely relaxing holiday. The cottage is lovely with everything you need and nice garden to sit out in. The log fire was used every night which made the cottage very cosy. We have just come back from a wonderful week's holiday. The cottage is lovely with everything you could wish for. As the previous comments have said Judy was such a welcoming host she met us with the keys on our arrival and had even lit the fire which was so welcoming. We explored the area which had lovely walks., visited the interesting local townRead mores. There is so much to do in the area and we will certainly return back to the cosy home from home cottage. Lovely cottage in superb surroundings. We enjoyed the peace and quiet. The kitchen and bathroom are really beautiful. We also appreciated the comfortable beds, with many pillows and extra blankets.

A really comfortable cottage. Well-equipped. Very comfortable bed! Lovely to meet Judy (thank you for the eggs). Fabulous location. I visited the Yorkshire Dales, Teesdale, and the Westmorland Dales all from here. Appleby is a great place to pick up the Settle to Carlisle railway (16 for an off-peak day return, too). And lovely walks right from theRead more cottage door, too. The only downside was my week went far too quickly. Hide

This property was superb and it was great to meet the owner on arrival who gave us a warm welcome and made us feel at home from the word go. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped, everywhere was immaculately clean and the whole house was a joy to stay in. Thank you so much for this five star service.

A lovely cottage across the road from the river in a busy village in spite of not having a shop. Apparently the local pub is being refurbished, which will be an asset. Meanwhile, we loved the 1.5mile walk to Sandford and the delicious pint and burger in the beer garden there. The countryside is soft and green all around this beautiful area. The houRead morese was spotless, comfortable and well-equipped. Great to have a downstairs loo as the stairs are steep. Judy was delightfully helpful and welcoming. Hide

Lovely cottage and lovely owner. The only downside was noisy heating that left the house too cool during the day. Not a problem if you're planning on going out every day but an issue if you want time to just chill out with a book or in front of the TV. The open fire was great but quickly eats through firewood so factor in the extra expense. There aRead morere no shops in the village but plenty in Kirkby Stephen a few miles away. Great location for exploring the Dales or the Lakes as the A66 is nearby. Hide

Good location and helpful owner, managed to visit Carlisle (cathedral roof fascinating) , Hadrians Wall, Penrith, Brougham Castle (not a lot to see as it is ruined now) - Brougham Hall- worth a visit - as well as Ullswater. Local towns of Appleby and Kirkby Stephen worth seeing too. Nice local circular walk to Sandford.

We had a lovely weeks stay here after attending a fabulous wedding at Eden Barn. The cottage was very clean and had a very well-equipped kitchen. The owner was very friendly and met us with the keys. The location was good for us too: we managed to visit Appleby, Penrith, Carlisle, Acorn Bank, Alston, Brough, Hadrians Wall, Ulleswater, Pooley BridgeRead more etc from here very easily. The weather was great and we both enjoyed a glass of wine whilst sitting in the little back garden! Hide

We loved everything about the cottage. It was comfortable, especially the beds, well laid out and well equipped. There was a garden for sitting out when it wasnt too hot. Watching the rabbits and the ducks on the brook from my bed was entertaining.
