Whisk family, friends and four legged friends away to the eastern side of the Lake District National Park and explore the fantastic Eden Valley before enjoying time together in this sociable yet cosy home.

Bursting with charm and character, this cosy home-from-home nestled in the picturesque village of Shap is the ultimate peaceful getaway perfect for couples and families keen to uncover the natural beauty of the Lake District and Eden Valley.

The soothing neutral colour palette and roaring wood burner create a truly warming atmosphere in the cosy lounge/diner. Boasting contemporary country cottage-style decor reminiscent of a traditional Cumbrian farmhouse, the light and bright kitchen will inspire you to whip up some delicious treats with your local produce. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms on offer, one king-size and one twin. Reached up a set of slightly uneven steps (with handrail), the raised garden is the perfect spot to dine alfresco. Running alongside the rear of the cottage is the West Coast Main Line; keep your eyes peeled for occasional glimpses of vintage steam trains including the Flying Scotsman.

Nestled between the Lake District and the Westmorland Dales area of the Yorkshire Dales, the quiet village of Shap is a haven of tranquillity, surrounded by spectacular countryside scenery alive with dozens of trails to uncover on foot or two wheels. Keen outdoor explorers can conquer part of Wainwright's Coast-to-Coast or head to Haweswater (8 miles) to stroll the banks of this magnificent lake, catching glimpses of deer, badgers and red squirrels along the journey. Soak up the local culture by exploring Sleddale Hall, 6 miles away, or the impressive ruins of Shap Abbey, 1.5 miles away. The delightful market towns of Sedbergh, Appleby-in-Westmoreland and Kirkby Stephen can all be reached within 22 miles.

Lovely little cottage with everything we needed. Bed was lovely and comfy. Good location and a few shops along the high street so you could get any provisions locally. The only thing was we struggled to find short walks from the cottage for our dogs. The owner has thought of everything that we could need.

We loved this wonderful cottage. The location is great, in a quiet lane with a lovely garden. The nearby railway can barely be heard. The cottage is very thoughtfully decorated, spotlessly clean and extremely well equipped. Many lovely details such as well selected books and handmade soaps make this an outstanding holiday experience. Lovely cottage and well located, great nights sleep and well equipped kitchen. We loved being to access the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District so easily and the swimming pool in Shap was great.

Lovely place to stay with a pet. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. We found it well equipped with everything we needed to enjoy a weeks stay and the log burner we made absolute use of.

We had a lovely stay in the Lake District, Shap was fairly central and had a nice chip shop, but not a lot actually in Shap, it was quite a long drive for lots of places we wanted to visit so would look to stay slightly further South another time. The kitchen was very well equipped, and the cottage was generally well thought out for young children Read moreand dogs. Although there was quite a lot of dog hair and a doggy smell. It was a lovely quiet area but really quick to get on the M6 which was handy. Hide

Everything was perfect, as always. Very clean, comfortable, well equipped cottage. Handy for the Lakes or the Dales. Convenient for local shop, chippy and pubs. Having your own parking space was great. We love staying here.

We found the cottage very quiet and comfortable. There are restaurants and pubs within walking distance, and all of the lakes easy to drive to. The beds were very comfortable. Everything you needed was there right down to cling film, foil, sandwich boxes and flasks.
