Great for family get-togethers or getaways with friends, this charming stone cottage sleeps eight guests and has lots of tranquil spaces inside and out in which to enjoy the peaceful countryside surroundings, with stunning views to Mallerstang Edge.

Head out to explore from your door and keep your eyes peeled for red squirrels, which are indigenous to this beautiful area. Wander the local green with its Andy Goldsmith sculpture or lace up your walking boots for an exerting hike to the summit of High Seat (9 miles), the highest point of the majestic Mallerstang Edge fell. Stay close to home and visit the Pendragon Castle (less than a mile away) where the sandstone remains are steeped in legend surrounding King Arthur and his father. Sixteen miles away, in Orton, you can enjoy a meal at the pub or time your visit around the renowned monthly farmers’ market, which boasts a delicious hog roast and live music.

Entering the cottage, find yourself in the entrance hall where you can leave muddy boots. After long days, head to the kitchen, which features granite worktops and a built-in eye-level oven for whipping up hearty meals to feed hungry guests. The separate utility room is a handy space, and the cloakroom has a WC. With exposed beams and stonework, the lounge/diner is a lovely spot where you can dine together and enjoy raising a toast at the table. Warming this room, the wood burner is perfect for cosying up in front of as you find a seat on the pair of comfortable sofas. Spend time in front of the TV after adventures or unwind with a book. The gorgeous sunroom sits between the lounge/diner and the kitchen and offers a lovely place to sit and make plans for tomorrow as you gaze out over the garden towards the fells. When it’s time to drift off to sleep, climb the staircase to the first floor where three bedrooms await. Two doubles and a twin are tranquil rooms and share the family bathroom with a roll-top, free-standing bath, shower and WC. To reach the final bedroom, ascend spiral stairs to the master double with en-suite shower room and WC. Take care of the low, exposed beams and sloping ceilings, which add quirk to this spacious room.

Enjoy time on the enclosed rear lawn and sit on the patio with a tipple in hand, or catch the sun in the small garden at the front of the house. Whilst outside, enjoying a sizzling feast on the kettle BBQ. There is a gravel parking area for one car and further parking in front of the cottage.

This is a fantastic spacious cottage in a lovely location. There are loads of beautiful walks in the area, many from the door and the cottage itself is a lovely warm and welcoming place to return to after a busy day exploring. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and the beds were very comfortable. We will definitely be returning.
