Perfect for couples and walkers, get away from it all in this remote location surrounded by water and wildlife, situated close by to the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust’s Discovery Centre.

Savour the truly special serenity of this Yorkshire apartment set within the unique surroundings of a nature reserve. Inviting couples and small families, the two-bedroom, first-floor, dog-friendly retreat nestles in Kilnsea on Spurn Point, an astounding peninsula between the North Sea and Humber Estuary. Some 3 miles-long but only 50 metres wide in places, the magical spit is home to an array of wildlife and offers far-reaching views in every direction.

Climb the stairs up to the first floor to discover your welcoming accommodation. Enter the lounge/diner where comfortable seating awaits after your long walks and trips out. Settle on the sofas in front of the Smart TV or watch a DVD. Open the table to dine together after preparing delicious, homecooked meals through in the nearby kitchen. This well-equipped, light space has been designed to make self-catering as easy as possible. When you are ready to lay your head on your pillow, wander through to one of the two bedrooms. These include a king-size room, with a bed that can be arranged as two singles instead if discussed in advance, and a welcoming double bedroom. There is also a well-appointed family bathroom at the property, while the washing machine can be found in an outbuilding. Have morning coffee out at the picnic table on fine days and relax out here with a cup of tea on sunny afternoons.

Stroll 1 mile from the apartment to the beach then wander along the sand and through the dunes to spot migrating birds. Visit the Discovery Centre, also 1 mile away, where you can take part in organised walks, as well as wildlife and military safaris. Venture 10 miles to Withernsea to climb the 144 steps of the lighthouse to take in the panoramic views over the town and coastline.

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 double and 1 king-size zip-and-link (which can be made into a 2ft 6in twin on request)
  • 1 bathroom with shower over bath and WC
  • Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge and dishwasher
  • Utility area with washing machine (located in outhouse)
  • Travel cot and highchair available
  • Smart TV/DVD in the lounge
  • Patio area with seating
  • Ample off-road parking
  • Shop 10 miles, beach and pub within 1 mile
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 2 dogs allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week
  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £200 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £25. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

WOW! I booked here as I wanted to try something different, we always seemed go south. Well, I'm so glad I did. The Bluebell is a lovely, spacious apartment. Well kept, clean, tidy and very comfortable. 100 yards from the beach, and I'd you like walking, walk to the north of the beach and noone is there. Beautiful. Walk to the local pub. Great location for what we wanted, quiet and close to the bird and wildlife reserves and Spurn point for bird watching and walks. A great idea to have a letting property to generate funds for the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust. Really clean, spacious and comfortable property. Would go back to it again.

Very pleasant stay in a well-located cottage near to Spurn Head National Nature Reserve. Numerous walks on the doorstep and a few yards away from the coast. Property is nicely-appointed, with plenty of space and adequate facilities. Only downside is that it is very cold and the electric heaters aren't efficient.

We did enjoy our stay, and love it's closeness to the beach and nature reserve. We watched the sun rise, twice! We also saw waxwings - beautiful! Thank you.

We were disappointed that there is some renovation taking place while still being let so were met with the overpowering smell of wet plaster. However the sashes on half the windows were broken so could not be opened to alleviate the smell. The secure outside area was not as advertised and was overrun with weeds but after complaining this was strimmRead moreed. There was no welcome pack as mentioned in previous reviews. Beautiful cottage in a beautiful location in the wetlands. The beach is a minute from the door and wetlands wildlife not much further. If you want peace and to get away from the hubbub, this is your ideal place. All the amenities you need are here but do make sure you bring all your provisions as the nearest big supermarkets are 10 miles away.

A great location for visiting Spurn. Its only a short walk to beginning of the walk to Spurn Point. Staying here also helps the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust continue the important work they do. We would recommend the safari trip run by the trust on the Unimog, good fun and very informative.
