Enjoy a slice of coastal life at this modern house accommodating up to eight guests situated within Whitby and surrounded by The North York Moors National Park. This property is ideal for families and small groups of friends.

Whitby is a town that offers something a little different to your ‘typical’ coastal resort. Famous for its connections to Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Whitby has always embraced its Gothic culture and you can climb the 199 steps on the East Cliff to visit the Abbey Ruins. Whitby town has old and historic streets, where in the past seafarers and smugglers have roamed, and you will walk on the ornate cobbled paths, which has locally-owned shops and quirky cafes that give Whitby its intriguing yet welcoming atmosphere. Being by the sea, you’ll also get to enjoy classic seaside fun and food with locally caught crab, scampi fish and lobster as well as building sandcastles on the beach and walks along the pier. Whitby is also a place for Explorers, with its connection to the famous voyager, Captain James Cook. The great man is immortalised in a monument up on West Cliff, where he can be seen looking out to his favourite place, the sea.

Step into the hallway, hang your coat and leave behind your walking boots. Head into the kitchen and dining area where there is a large captain’s table for eight guests to dine with your family or friends. The well-equipped kitchen is a delight to cook in and offers an electric double oven, a further oven which is also a microwave, electric hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and a washing machine. Come together around the table for breakfast and plan the day ahead. Later, after dinner, wander through the double doors to the lounge, take a seat on the two comfy leather sofas, and chair, and watch the Smart TV or listen to some music. Open the door to the patio and garden and extend your space in the warm balmy summer evenings. Completing the ground floor is a separate WC. When it's time to turn in, head upstairs to bed, each room has space for clothes storage. The master bedroom offers a super-king-size bed with an en-suite shower room and WC. The second bedroom has a king-size bed, the third bedroom has a double bed with drawers and hanging space and the fourth bedroom is a bunk bedroom, suitable for children and teenagers, with an additional single pull-out bed/mattress. Completing the accommodation is a bathroom with shower over bath and WC.

Outside there is an enclosed patio and lawn with artificial grass, relax on the outdoor seating whilst enjoying a BBQ, this is a wonderful place to enjoy summer evenings and dining alfresco. There is off-road parking for two.

Good base location, 0.9 m from Whitby West Cliff. Great for family holiday get-togethers. Kitchen/diner has all mod cons & is a good size. Comfy super king bed in ensuite & comfy bunk beds. Quick dog walks round the corner in castle grounds or small park opposite castle entrance in side road, both handy before visits out. Close by is Lidls & a largRead moree Spar shop at the Shell garage for supplies. Accessibility: Taller & or less mobile people might find the lounge seating and toilets too low down. Hide

Recently returned from 3 days at Captains House. We all had a brilliant time. Contact with the owner was great and she was very helpful. The house was lovely with the furniture and fittings all being top class, we ate in most of the time and there was everything you needed to do a full Sunday lunch. The decor too was lovely . Our son and daughter iRead moren law even ordered the chair and footstool for their dining room at home. The garden was perfect for a dog and 2 year old but looked good too. Hide

A lovely house in a good location on the edge of Whitby with all the home comforts at hand. Many great attractions nearby or a short drive and enough to keep us occupied for a week. Sneaton Castle (next door) is a great place for lunch in very plush decor and beautiful grounds. Whitby itself is a delight to explore with a host of small independent Read moreshops including a few dedicated to Whitby Jet. The beach is huge when the tide is out and never seemed packed. Hide

Lovely family sized house, well situated and safe enclosed garden for children and dogs. Extremely well equipped and decorated. Nice comfy beds and pillows. The owners have put a lot of thought and effort into making sure everything required is available. Would definitely stay again.
