This homely cottage is in Danby, a charming village located within the North York Moor National Park. Wake up to fantastic views over the Esk Valley and spend your days exploring the surrounding moorland on foot or by bicycle. Danby is known locally for its health food shop, bakery, cafe, and village pub all located within 350 metres of your abode. You’ll also be within easy reach of wonderful seaside locations like Staithes, Runswick Bay and Sandsend, all under 12 miles away.

You’ll enter the property via a south-facing front garden, with seating areas so you can bask in the Yorkshire sunshine and enjoy the vistas. The front door opens to a spacious, open-plan living area with lovely velvety sofas, a large dining table and an open fire within an exposed brick fireplace. A cheerful colour scheme makes this space feel especially sunny and bright. Head through to the well-equipped kitchen, which is fabulous for cooking holiday meals and leads to a handy backyard where you can store bikes. Upstairs, have a soak in the free-standing bath then retire to one of the four beautifully decorated bedrooms. The master bedroom, on the second floor, has a gorgeous, vaulted ceiling and wooden beams, plus window seating for enjoying the countryside views.

The area is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, with numerous walks and cycle paths directly accessible from your doorstep. The nearby Danby Lodge National Park Centre (0.5 miles), which has relaxing gardens, a cafe, a shop and an adventure playground, is the start of many walks. Danby Beacon (2 miles) offers fantastic panoramic views, while at Danby station you can board the local train to Whitby (13 miles), a fantastic seaside town.

The cottage was wonderful - very relaxing and comfortable. Lovely bedding and beautiful wool blankets dotted about the place. The view from the front for the cottage is out of this world and really could not be beaten. The cottage had a very loved feel and there were ample towels, cutlery, crockery and pans. There is also a cupboard full of oils, sRead morepices, herbs, etc, along with complimentary tea, coffee, decaf coffee and sugar - all very greatly received and appreciated. So relaxing. Hide

Great little cottage in a really nice location. Friendly local pub and bakery/cafe within easy walking distance. Also Danby has a station on the Esk Valley Railway, again within walking distance. Very happy with our stay.

Fabulous quirky cottage. We were made to feel extremely welcome. The cottage was very well equipped with everything we could possibly need. We could walk straight from the door, and Whitby was a short drive with other beaches were even closer. It is a good central location for exploring the surrounding area. Excellent location we found areas within a 20 minute drive for trips to Whitby, Staithes on the cost had some interesting properties and shops. Cattersty Sands near Skinninggrove is an excellent quiet beach for dog walking. Bakery in village will bake croissants for you if you pre order. Property is well equipped, very quiet and warm. We had such a lovely time staying in The Briary, it was a perfect location and we knew about the steep steps before we booked. It is a lovely house, very spacious yet cosy and very well equipped. This is a really special cottage. It has beautifully refurbished and provides everything you could want. It is set in the most spectacular location and it is easy to just sit and be at peace with your surroundings. Probably not so good if you have mobility issues but otherwise a wonderful place to be.
