Overlooking the Rivelin Valley on the edge of the Peak District, this traditional cottage makes the ideal base for friends or family who love walking and want to be close to local amenities and attractions. It has a garden and patio so you can sit outside and enjoy the sunshine, and lovely, homely interiors, with a cosy wood burner and stunning furniture.
The cottage is the guest wing of a 16th-century listed manor house and has many original features including wooden beams and floors, alongside relaxed contemporary styling. Go into the bright and light country kitchen/diner with a rustic table and chairs and everything you need to self-cater. There’s also a utility room with a washing machine and bread maker. The spacious lounge has a TV, books and games, comfy sofas, and a wood burner in the original fireplace. Upstairs, are the three stylish bedrooms with wonderful furniture and good storage: the master king-size with an en-suite shower room, a twin zip-and-link, and a double room, as well as the family bathroom with a bath and separate shower. Head to the walled garden from the first floor landing where you can sit on the patio with a cool drink. There’s also a gravelled area with sun loungers and you can hire the wood-fired pizza oven for fun al fresco evenings.
Get out and explore the Peak District on foot, pick up the Rivelin Valley Heritage Nature Trail or head to Mam Tor (15 miles), Kinder Scout (20 miles) and Ladybower Reservoir (7 miles) for hill and woodland walks. You’ll find playgrounds, paddling pools, and a cafe nearby (0.5 miles).
