Create timeless memories with your nearest and dearest at this classic gate lodge in the outskirts of the market town of Kirkby Stephen. Sleeping four people across two bedrooms, it’s the ideal option for small groups or families in search of a period cottage to call home while they discover the rugged beauty of the Yorkshire Dales together. Spend a happy day admiring the picturesque landscapes of Smardale Gill Nature Reserve, and in the evening, come home to the cottage’s pretty garden to enjoy an al fresco feast with your loved ones.

Step inside and you'll be greeted by a spacious lounge area with original wooden beams that will immediately catch your eye. Take a moment to relax by the wood burner and enjoy the cosy charm of this traditional room. When it’s time to eat, descend the few steps to the contemporary kitchen/diner to whip up some dinner and gather everyone around the elegant dining table for a sociable meal. After eating, head outside and take a seat on the private patio area, which is surrounded by a large, shared lawn area. Open a bottle of wine and watch the stars come out. At the end of the day, head back indoors and you’ll find a welcoming single bedroom and a separate shower room on the ground floor. Head upstairs and you'll discover another cosy single bedroom. From the upstairs single you'll find an open archway that leads to a master king-size zip-and-link bedroom, which can be converted into a twin on request. To complete the layout, there's a well-appointed family bathroom.

Immerse yourself in the history of Kirkby Stephen at the East Heritage Centre (0.5 miles), where you’ll learn all about the town's prestigious railway. Alternatively, follow a scenic trail through the woodlands and meadows to Rutter Falls (8 miles).

Great little cottage just a short distance from the centre of the town. Had all the amenities needed for our stay. Added bonus of a secure area to exercise our dog. No issues with the spacious accommodation.

as above not much I can say, I have stayed in many cottages over a good few years, and to say I was disappointed and dismayed at the state of the property. Such a shame that it has been neglected over the years, and not befitting the beautiful architecture it befits.

Great location for the Dale's and Lakes, 10 minutes walk to village. Sadly the property is in need of some TLC.

Lovely character property; wonderfully spacious and very comfortable. Great location for exploring the area, and very nice farm cafe just down the road. We had a very enjoyable week, despite the torrential rain on some days!

A really nice lodge, stunning from the outside if you like buildings of character. Lovely and warm when we walked in very spacious and fully equipped. The grounds are beautiful, red squirrels and rabbits can be seen all the time, probably alot more animals as the better weather comes. Lots of walks just a short ride out, we were not disappointed

Beautiful location. Beautiful lodge in desperate need of updating. Very tired and dated inside and equipped with the basics. Shower head hanging off wall in upstairs bathroom. Water doesn't drain away in downstairs bathroom sink. Wallpaper peeling off walls dead flies behind beds. This is not a 4 star. Such a beautiful place with lovely scenery.

Husband and I had a fantastic week at Stobars Lodge with our 2 pointers. Location is perfect with only a 10min walk into the town. We were disappointed with the interior of the house. It looked stunning and spacious on the photos. But downstairs shower was not to be use, because cold water was not connected. I suppose the house was not let the week before us and nobody had checked. A lot of spiders and cowwebs, dead flies in the windowsill.
