Richmond is a gateway town to the neighbouring Yorkshire Dales, so feel free to leave your car here and embark on a waymarked route into the depths of the national park. You can wander along the River Swale to soak up the Swaledale splendour, reaching Calver Hill (14.5 miles) and Bolton Castle (15 miles) with ease.
