Despite its proximity to the attractions, shops and eateries of York, this bolthole is a peaceful, undisturbed place, surrounded by manor house grounds with farmyard animals on site. The property is a destination for two, complete with a romantic four-poster bed and beautiful spaces for relaxing together, both indoors and out. Explore the Howardian Hills within 10 miles, unlocking an endless array of hikes and bike riding routes amongst the splendid North Yorkshire countryside.

Natural light floods this stylish annexe, a reverse-level property benefiting from an elevated living space with a Juliet balcony. The lounge/kitchen/diner on the first floor is laid out with stylish decor and lavender accents, complete with everything you need to prepare dinner, dine together and curl up on the sofa in front of the Smart TV. Moving downstairs, the ground floor presents a king-size bedroom with an additional TV for lazy film nights. There’s also an invigorating, well-appointed shower room in the next room. Moving outside, discover a courtyard tucked away with a private patio area or wander out to explore the walled garden and orchard on the wider estate.

The undulating hills of the Yorkshire Wolds are accessible a short drive away, with the pretty Wolds town of Pocklington just 11 miles. Unearth the lowland heath scenery of Allerthorpe Common (9 miles) and walk the surrounding, ever-varied countryside pathways. Find time to head into York in between walking excursions, making the most of the city’s rich history and refreshing culture. Wander around the city’s famous Shambles, learn about the city at the Jorvik Centre and admire the splendour of York Minster. There’s an endless selection of cafes, pubs and restaurants within the city’s walls, including the famed Yorkshire attraction, Betty’s Tearoom.

Willoughbys Loft is a brilliant find. We loved the inverted accommodation with the bedroom and bathroom downstairs and the kitchen and living accommodation upstairs, affording a view of the garden. Had a wonderful holiday. Willoughbys Loft is a wonderful place to stay. Perfect location. Our dog loved the views out of the Juliet Balcony and so did we.

Absolutely fabulous cottage well located to York. Cottage was stunning and spotlessly clean and extremely well equipped. All fixtures and fittings and materials to a very high standard. We stayed at Willoughby loft from 19th May to 26th May 2023. Notified Michelle the owner what time we would be arriving and we were greeted by her and she showed us around the property. The amenities are top quality and we could not fault the property. Plenty of information on places to go, eating etc, in the booklet, Nothing was too much trouble fRead moreor Michelle. Beautiful holiday home close to York. Good quality appliances and comfortable bed. Lovely view of the garden from the lounge. Loads of places to visit nearby. Appreciated the welcome pack which contained some homemade jam and scones. We had such a fab week that we didn't want to go home!

beautiful cottage, pretty little village just outside York, handy for Castle Howard. Owner very friendly and helpful, really nice welcome pack and .... pigs.... yes pigs! at the bottom of the garden, just idyllic, Oh and there is a peacock in the garden too.

Lovely cottage with everything we needed. Michelle was so nice and welcoming, and the little extra treats were much appreciated. Our holiday was unfortunately cut short but loving Yorkshire as we do we will no doubt return in the future.

A great place to stay with every comfort. A good position to visit York (we used the bus) and gain access to many of North Yorkshire beautiful scenery and attractions. We went to Harrogate, Whitby, Pickering, and Thornton le Dale. Our host was very welcoming.

Ideally situated for exploring York and surrounding countryside. Park & Ride is close by. Good access to coastal towns, we visited Bridlington on a very hot day.
