This delightful barn conversion in a peaceful rural setting is a perfect hideaway for two, with wonderful country views and easy access to the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. The stone-built property, one of a complex of holiday homes, is on the outskirts of Newton-le Willows, a quiet village just 4 miles from the attractive town of Bedale. There, you’ll find independent shops, eateries, traditional pubs and a colourful weekly market where you can snap up local produce. Tranquil walks and cycle trails are plentiful from the door, while the historic market towns of Richmond and Leyburn are within 9 miles.
The interior of this charming property has a fresh, country feel, with white walls, oak floorboards and exposed ceiling beams in the bright open-plan living space. The spacious layout includes comfortable leather sofas and a TV in the lounge area, a well-equipped corner kitchen with all you need for home cooking, and an intimate breakfast bar and a dining table for romantic meals. After a great day in the Dales, head upstairs to the luxurious, super-king-size bedroom, overlooking rolling countryside. Next door is the immaculate bathroom with a walk-in shower. Outside, relax in the enclosed garden with a lawn, patio and outdoor furniture – the perfect spot for a quiet morning coffee.
While in Bedale, drop into the town’s excellent museum and take a scenic train ride on the heritage Wensleydale Railway into the Dales. Bustling Leyburn (7.5 miles) is home to medieval Bolton Castle. Mary, Queen of Scots was imprisoned here, and you can see her bedroom, the dungeons and more on a tour of this imposing landmark. Floral delights await in Constable Burton Gardens (2 miles), offering glorious seasonal displays, a lake and woodland. Richmond (8.5 miles) is a must-see, with riverside walks, cobbled streets and a Norman castle.
