Richmond is a gorgeous market town known for its Georgian Theatre Royal, excellent museum and charming cobbled lanes – a wonderful location for a picturesque Yorkshire holiday. You’ll be in a prime location with a direct view towards Richmond’s imposing Norman castle at the front. The house sleeps four over its two pretty bedrooms, so is perfect for a small family, a couple or group of friends.
As well as its gorgeous stone exterior, the dwelling contains charming decor, fittings and furniture of an extremely high standard. There’s an elegant period style throughout, with plenty of florals, gentle colour schemes and artwork perfectly positioned on the walls. The well-equipped kitchen, with its stone countertops and apron sink, is sure to inspire the chefs of the group, who can serve up meals at the circular dining table. In the ornate lounge, sink into one of the velvety tufted sofas and spark up the wood burner for a cosy evening in. When nighttime calls, retire to the pretty super-king-size bedroom or king-size room, both served by a well-appointed shower room. Warmer weather calls for al fresco meals outside, where there’s also a luscious lawn.
Richmond’s local market offers an abundance of high-quality local produce every Saturday, including fresh fish from Whitby and a delightful selection of cheeses for you to try. The River Swale passes by 150 metres from the house – for an easy stroll, follow it 0.5 miles to reach Richmond’s iconic waterfall. For longer cycle rides or hikes, the Yorkshire Dales National Park starts 1.5 miles away at the National Trust Hudswell Woods – start your journey on foot here or drive further into the park to attractions such as Bolton Castle (12 miles) and Nidderdale AONB (24 miles).
