The other way is the utility room with a washing machine and plenty of space to store outdoor gear. The cosy lounge has a second wood burner and comfy seating, an antique organ, and a TV/DVD; there’s also a ground-floor shower room. Upstairs, there’s a stunning bathroom with a free-standing bath and three pretty bedrooms, two doubles and a twin. The Master bedroom has a dressing table, a TV, and built-in storage, and the twin has a wardrobe. Heading outside, there’s a large open garden with a BBQ and seating, and an orchard where you can pick the fruit in season.
Look around Stillingfleet’s Norman church and follow the Stillingfleet Loop to explore the village on foot. Head out on walks to Riccall (3.5 miles) and Cawood (3 miles) for pub lunches and explore local footpaths. Cycle to York (9 miles) and Selby (8 miles) on the cycle track, and visit York Minster, Yorkshire Air Museum, Jorvik Viking Centre, and the National Railway Museum (8 miles). Go out for dinner in Escrick and Riccall (both 3.5 miles) and explore the impressive gardens and interiors at Castle Howard (22.5 miles).
