Go into the homely open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, relax on the sofa and armchairs, and watch TV. Cook hearty meals after a long walk in the kitchen/diner to enjoy at the dining table and chairs. The pretty double room is on the ground floor, it has an en-suite shower room and lots of light thanks to the full-length window. Go up the spiral staircase in the dining area to the second bedroom, a lovely twin room with an en-suite bathroom with views across the Dales. For more gorgeous views, sit outside on the garden furniture on the front patio in the sunshine. There’s external bike storage if you’re a keen cyclists too.
Wander alongside the river into Dent (1.5 miles), home to two pubs, a shop and cafes, and a fascinating heritage centre. Pick up the Dales Way walking trail near the village for walks through the valley, and if you’re feeling ambitious tackle one of the Yorkshire Three Peaks: Ingleborough (15.5 miles), Pen-Y-Ghent (17.5 miles) and Whernside (4 miles). Spend a day in Sedburgh (5.5 miles) visiting the town’s mill, independent shops and art galleries, and head to Hawes (14 miles) to visit the nearby waterfalls, browse in the antique shops, and explore the Dales Countryside Museum (14 miles).
