We all deserve a little pampering from time to time and what could be better than enjoying a break in Yorkshire? With so many gorgeous places to visit, dine and enjoy, Yorkshire has firmly put itself on the map as a fabulous destination for luxury breaks. Coast, Moors, Dales or Moors...there's so much to discover so whether you can enjoy a week off-work or only stretch to a few days, here's some of the reasons Yorkshire is our destination of choice.

Where to visit

Whichever area of Yorkshire you decide to visit, you'll find plenty of stunning scenery, culture and history to enjoy.

One of our favourite places to visit is the charming market town of Helmsley in the North York Moors National Park. You can easily spend a few days exploring this delightful location, browsing the boutique shops or enjoying a bite to eat in one of the many independent tea rooms here. If the sun is shining, we love taking a walk from the historic castle to the nearby Rievaulx Abbey too! It's around a 3 mile walk and takes you through the most glorious countryside.

Not far away is another jewel in Yorkshire's crown, the historic City of York. York is a city that's easy to explore on foot, and it's fascinating to walk through the streets here to see grand Edwardian architecture mix with old-world charm. You can walk the city wall's or climb to the top of the Minster for the best views, or spend some time strolling the quirky streets to shop the designer boutiques.

For a break from the hustle and bustle why not consider booking a bolthole in the Yorkshire Dales? We recommend Wensleydale or Swaledale for stunning countryside and the rolling green hills, idyllic dry stone walls and friendly folk of the dales make this a tranquil location to explore.

Where to dine

Looking for a foodie break in Yorkshire? We're spoiled for choice for delicious places to dine...

The Star Inn at Harome
The Star Inn at Harome

Serving 'modern Yorkshire food', The Star Inn at Harome has a well-earned reputation as being one of the finest restaurants in Yorkshire. The building is thought to date back to the 14th century, and today offers a Michelin starred dining experience where locally-sourced ingredients such as local game and Yorkshire coast fish meet homegrown herbs and vegetables from the kitchen garden.

Over in the Yorkshire Dales, one of our favourite places to visit is the Wensleydale Heifer in West Witton. This popular restaurant is adored by locals and many even travel from afar to dine here, a testament to the delicious menu! Fresh fish and seafood is what the Heifer is famous for, but be sure to leave plenty of room to sample the delicious desserts!

Voted the 'Best Restaurant in the World' by TripAdvisor in 2017, The Black Swan at Oldstead is a must-visit for any foodie worth their salt. This Michelin-Starred restaurant won the crown for it's farm-to-table approach to food, with ingredients grown or foraged by the chefs.

Where to relax

Why not relax and unwind with a day at the spa?

There are several fantastic spas across Yorkshire, so there's plenty of choice if you want to indulge in a spa day on your Yorkshire holiday. The Feversham Arms and Verbena Spa is one of the best luxury spas in Moors, located in Helmsley. Indulge in the aromatherapy room, try out the salt chamber or relax with a Temple Spa'll feel like a brand-new person when you leave.

Just north of Yorkshire is Rockcliffe Hall, the largest spa in the country and the Good Spa Guide’s best in the North of England. This is a truly tranquil place, with each experience aimed at enhancing circulation and boosting well-being.

Two of our favourite places in the Yorkshire Dales are Swinton Park and Harrogate's Turkish Baths. Check out the 'relaxation zone' at Swinton Park and choose from a range of skin and body treatments to truly relax. The historic Turkish Baths in Harrogate have been open since 1897 and still remain one of the best spas in Yorkshire. The stunning tiles and arabesque provide a tranquil backdrop to the range of treatments and complementary therapies on offer here.
