Great Things To Do In The Yorkshire Dales

With so many great things to do in the Yorkshire Dales it was hard to compile a shortlist of the places you really should visit on your break in the Yorkshire Dales, but here is our list:

  • Dales Countryside Museum, Hawes

With lots of fun and interesting things for visitors of all ages to see and do, find out about the fascinating history of the Yorkshire Dales and partake in some of the fantastic events that take place throughout the year.

  • Aysgill Force, Gayle

A lovely walk for you to do if you're staying in Hawes is the picturesque 4 mile circular walk from Hawes to the spectacular Aysgill Force.

  • Annual Cheese Festival, September

One for cheese lovers not to miss, this relatively new festival celebrates tasty local produce with events taking place throughout the Yorkshire Dales. kicking off with a 2 day festival at the Wensleydale Creamery, followed by cheese-themed menus and activities throughout the region.

  • The Forbidden Corner, near Leyburn

Described as 'the strangest place in the world' this unique attraction is a great day out for kids young and old. A labyrinth of tunnels and walkways with surprises at every turn!

  • Bolton Castle, near Leyburn

Take in the sights, sounds and smells of this 14th Century castle on a Historic Tour, discover the beautiful gardens, or even book an amazing Falconry Experience.

  • Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway, Skipton

A journey on this heritage steam railway is a magnificent day out for all the family and is an exciting way to take in the stunning countryside of the Yorkshire Dales.

  • The Wensleydale Heifer, West Witton

If you're looking to indulge in some delicious food whilst you're in the Yorkshire Dales you will be absolutely spoilt for choice for great places to eat, but one of our favourites is this award winning restaurant and Fish Bar.

  • Hawes Ropemakers

For something a bit different visit Outhwaite Ropemaker's and watch traditional rope making taking place in the factory.

  • Tennants Auctioneers, Leyburn

This internationally renowned auction house has featured on TVs Flog It and boasts visiting exhibitions, walking tours, a great cafe, restaurant and shop.

  • Stacey Moore Art Gallery, Hawes

Specialising in British wildlife and farm animals this award winning artist has opened up her studio gallery for you to view her beautiful hand drawn coloured pencil drawings.

  • Thorp Perrow Gardens and Arboretum, Bedale

This Victorian arboretum houses a beautiful collection of rare trees and shrubs, a lovely tea rooms and birds of prey centre and mammal centre.

  • Leyburn Shawl and Leyburn Old Glebe Nature Reserve

Surround yourself with wildlife and wildflowers with a walk along the beautiful Leyburn Shawl via this traditional hay meadow nature reserve.
