Easter is nearly upon us and the smell of chocolate and hot cross buns is filling the air already! If you’re looking forward to spending some time with family and friends having fun and making memories out and about in beautiful Yorkshire this Easter, then you’ll be spoilt for choice of Easter themed things to do in our area, here are just a few suggestions:
The HM Bark Endeavour, Whitby, North Yorkshire
If you're looking to entertain your crew over the Easter holidays, there's plenty to do and discover on board the HM Bark Endeavour. Up until 22nd April you can explore every inch of the ship on the Easter Egg Hunt to find Captain Cook's missing Easter eggs, with a small treat for every little shipmate who takes part.
Piglets Adventure Farm, York, North Yorkshire
As well as all the usual egg-citing activities, rides, slides and cute baby animals, from now up until 28th April little egg hunters can take part in a fun Easter Egg Hunt and earn a special prize at the end. There’s also live animal shows until 22nd April and an exciting magic show The Magic Hatter from 18th to 28th April.
Amelia's Chocolate, Scarborough, North Yorkshire
Instead of buying your Easter Eggs this year, why not get creative and try your hand at making your own? Amelia’s Easter Workshops are a great way to learn the art of chocolate making and for just £12 you can create your own Faberge-style egg. Book now to guarantee your place.
Skipton Castle Woods, Skipton, North Yorkshire
With help from the fairies of Rusticus Theatre, Skipton’s biggest Easter hunt returns on Easter Saturday. Follow the clues with the help of the fairies and the wood wizard and collect your chocolate treat at the end.
North York Moors National Railway, Whitby to Pickering, North Yorkshire
Visit The North York Moors Railway, one of the world’s greatest heritage railway experiences, between 13th and 28th April and children can take part in the Easter activity sheet competition with the chance to win a family voucher and egg. Climb on board a steam or heritage diesel train and experience the stunning scenery of Yorkshire moorland on route. A must-see is Goathland Station which became Hogsmeade Station in the first Harry Potter film.
Dalby Forest, Scarborough, North Yorkshire
On Wednesday 24th April children aged 8 and above can take part in a day of bushcraft activities, such as animal tracking, plants and tree identification, shelter building, fire lighting, outdoor cooking, sourcing fresh water and foraging. Book in advance to secure your place.
Burton Agnes Hall, Driffield, East Yorkshire
Throughout the Easter holidays until 22nd April, Burton Agnes Hall has lots of family fun Easter activities going on including an Easter trail around the grounds and gardens and during Easter weekend children can even meet the Easter bunny himself. There’s also a yew tree maze, giant board games and a courtyard café to keep the whole family entertained.
Castle Howard, Malton, North Yorkshire
This fantastic Easter Egg trail around the grounds of Castle Howard sounds like great fun for all the family. From 13th to 28th April you can join in the easter egg trail and receive a prize at the end, take a boat trip on the Great Lake, ride on the land train, spend some energy in the adventure playground and eat delicious ice cream. There’s also an old-fashioned traditional fun fair which the children can enjoy from 19th to 22nd April.
Bolton Abbey, Wharfedale, Yorkshire Dales
Can you crack the code to ‘Earn your Ears’? Hop through Strid Wood and keep your eyes peeled for the larger than life brightly coloured bunnies hiding in the trees. Look out for the new addition in the sand pit too.
