Towards the end of last week, locals and visitors alike had the pleasure of enjoying Whitby Abbey in an array of illuminous colours over a four night period which coincided with this year's Halloween and Whitby Goth Weekend. The event, which was organized by English Heritage, invited visitors to step into the grounds of Whitby Abbey in the dark of night and enjoy the spooky atmosphere which was created by the colourful lights which were being projected onto the ancient ruin.

As well as the lights, there were also a number of other attractions taking place within the grounds as costumed characters were giving presentations on Victorian undertaking, grave robbing and even Jack the Ripper!

It seems the event was definitely a success as many people were queueing to get into the grounds on Halloween night - from families of tourists enjoying their half-term holidays within the town to the Goths who had arrived for the bi-annual Goth weekend, it appears there was something for everyone!

Below is one of the colourful photographs which I managed to snap whilst at the Abbey on Halloween. If the event ever takes place again I would certainly recommend it!
