The staff from Ingrid Flute’s Yorkshire Holiday Cottages had their Christmas party last week and chose to go to the Estbek House, a two AA Rosette restaurant in Sandsend. Tom Ellis, our director, came up from Norwich especially and we had a great night.

The dining room overlooks the sea and the table was beautifully presented for us. The first striking element was the quality of the Christmas crackers which contained top quality presents and better than average jokes. Everyone was first served with a small cup of beautiful spiced parsnip soup, a free extra not advertised but greatly appreciated. The starters came on four large wooden boards (there were only 9 of us) and consisted of two with seafood, including smoked salmon, whitebait, garlic prawns and salmon mousse and two boards with spring rolls, parma ham, olives and feta cheese, vine tomatoes and homemade bread.

The choice of main meals included, steak and ale suet pudding, cod and haddock mornay, chicken in parma ham, Whitby witch sole and a vegetarian option. These were all served with fresh vegetables. Another extra after this was a lovely ginger sorbet to cleanse the palate ready for the dessert which consisted of a trio of puddings, all delicious. Coffee, chocolates and mince pies completed a stunning meal.

If you want a very special meal, look no further, we would thoroughly recommend The Estbek House to anybody - telephone: 01947 893424.

Below are some photos of the fantastic food which we were able to enjoy!
