It is amazing how many visitors come into our office in Whitby and ask for suggestions for where to eat. There is no doubt that Whitby now has a large number of really good places to eat and offers an excellent selection of types of food.
For good fish and chips, you can eat in at The Magpie Cafe, The Marine, Trenchers and Royal Fisheries among others whilst for takeaway, Silver Street Fisheries and Riverside Fisheries are hard to beat. In terms of Italian cuisine, Moutrey’s is a favourite as well as the Cosa Nostra both on the East side of the Swing Bridge. Close together by the station are two Indian restaurants, the Tandoori and Passage to India. Chinese is not so easy with takeaway and restaurant at Long Kings at the Metropole Hotel and takeaway on the Parade near to the West Cliff.
Other good restaurants with varied menus include The Moon and Sixpence, The White Horse and Griffin, Ditti's and the Fig Tree.
