Quality Assurance Scheme


All of our properties are individually inspected by a member of our property team to achieve a standard which you, as our customer, would expect. In addition, many properties are graded under the Quality Assurance Scheme, and these have a star rating award as part of the property description.

Each property graded under the Scheme must meet an extensive list of minimum requirements and then levels of quality and presentation determine the final rating. Quite simply, the more stars, the higher the overall level of quality, facilities and service you can expect to find. In order to meet our customer's requirements, we only include properties that have been awarded a three star or above rating.

All properties have to provide the following before they can be considered for a star rating:

  • High standard of cleanliness throughout
  • Comfortable accommodation with a range of furniture to meet your needs
  • Colour television (where signal available) at no extra charge
  • Kitchen equipment to meet all essential requirements

Information about what is required for each star grading is shown below. When searching for a holiday home on our website, the properties with a star grading will be displayed first in recognition of our commitment to quality. The Welcome scheme highlights establishments that have facilities or services for people who enjoy cycling or walking, families and those travelling with pets.

Some of our properties also meet the standards required for The National Accessible Scheme providing the fixtures, fittings and extra space required by those who have limited mobility. Our Mobility 1 accredited properties are: Silver Birch Lodge, Rowan Lodge and The Barn.


3 Star Award

Good to Very Good level of quality.  Good standard of maintenance and decoration. Ample space and good quality furniture. All double beds will have access from both sides (unless the structure of the cottage makes this impossible). Generally bed linen is included or available for hire.

4 Star Award

Very Good to Excellent overall level of quality.  Very good care and attention to detail will be obvious throughout. Access to a washing machine will be provided, but if not in the unit there will be access to a laundry facility. Bed linen is included and towels are included or available for hire.

5 Star Award

Excellent to Exceptional overall level of quality.  High levels of decor, fixtures and fittings, together with excellent standards of management efficiency and guest services. Excellent range of accessories and personal touches. Bed linen and towels are included free of charge.

Gold Awards

The Gold Award is awarded to properties which achieve exceptional quality within their star rating band. These properties reflect a higher level of quality, comfort and cleanliness throughout.

All minimum entry requirements need to be in place, plus five additional items in the Five Star list and 3 additional items from the Five Star Platinum list.
