Enjoy a coastal break with friends or family in this charming two-bedroom cottage in Whitby. The town’s busy harbour and sandy beach are just over 1 mile away, and you’ll also be within easy reach of the fabulous independent shops and eateries. Whitby Museum and the Captain Cook Memorial Museum are within 2 miles, along with Whitby Abbey. In the evenings, unwind with a glass of wine in the cute cabin in the garden.

The cottage has been decorated in relaxing, pastel shades and a delicate seaside theme runs throughout the property. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner is a bright, sociable space with comfortable sofas to stretch out on and a dining table to seat everyone. On a summer’s day, throw open the French doors to the garden to let a gentle, sea breeze drift through the cottage. The two beautiful bedrooms are upstairs, both with en-suite facilities. The enclosed garden is a real treat, with a decked area and furniture for al fresco dining and an adorable cabin-style summerhouse for enjoying a little quiet time with a book or watching TV.

Wander amongst Whitby’s narrow, cobbled streets, exploring the cute shops and galleries on every corner. Look out for souvenirs made from the famous Whitby jet, or perhaps pick up a painting by one of the many local artists. Head down to the bustling harbour to sample some delicious seafood or hop on a boat to go looking for whales and dolphins off the shore. If it’s remote, heather-clad landscapes you’re after, why not board one of the steam trains to go on an adventure in the North York Moors National Park?

Lovely house in a residential area, 7 minutes to the beach and a good 20 minutes walk to the town. House was clean and cosy and very well equipped. Loved the denby crockery. We loved our stay at Creamery Cottage. The location was perfect for exploring Whitby without needing to drive but also well located to get on the road to go further afield. The dedicated parking spot was really handy. The house was well kitted out, with everything we needed and more. We really got the impression that the owner had put time and effRead moreort into creating a high quality holiday home. It was very helpful to have a stairgate available as the dogs were not allowed upstairs. There was lots of useful information in the folders provided and the welcome hamper was a lovely (and tasty!) bonus. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and we have already recommended the property to family and friends. We really fell in love with the area so might well be back ourselves! Hide

Overall it was a nice property in a good location and it was well equipped. I have scored less than full marks on "comfort and quality" due to issues we had with the heating thermostat and boiler during our stay. We reported this to Emma the housekeeper who gave us a workaround with the thermostat - as on entering the property for the first time weRead more found it to be too hot and the thermostat not responsive in reducing the temperature. She separately had to return another time to reset the boiler when it had stopped working and we awoke to a freezing cold house and the boiler displayed a fault code. It is disappointing that it appears that these are known issues and it did adversely affect our stay a bit. In other respects, Creamery Cottage was very good, with high quality furnishings and kitchen equipment. The rooms were comfortable and it is a smart, modern house. However, we would probably book somewhere different if returning to the area - due to the heating issues we experienced. Hide
