Sitting in the market town of Helmsley, this sweet cottage makes the ideal base for a couple or small family to enjoy the Yorkshire Moors, being close to beautiful countryside, historic sites, and seaside towns. It has an enclosed garden, an inviting open-plan living space, and an allocated parking space, plus your canine companion is welcome to join you.

The cottage has homely interiors made for relaxation, with comfy furniture and a laidback style. Go inside to the welcoming lounge/kitchen/diner where there’s a comfy sofa and a Smart TV for evenings in, a pretty kitchen with everything you need to self-cater and a breakfast bar and stools for eating in. Head to bed in the two gorgeous bedrooms, a king-size and a small double (for one adult or two children). There’s a lovely, contemporary family bathroom on the first floor and a separate WC on the ground floor. At the rear is a fenced garden with a patio where you can enjoy the last of the sunshine with a cool drink on the garden furniture.

Wander to Helmsley Market Square to discover the cafes, shops, pubs and micro-brewery. The town is home to the tourist attractions of Helmsley Castle, the National Centre for Birds of Prey, and The Walled Gardens. Explore the Yorkshire Moors on walking and cycling routes and visit the National Trust’s Nunnington Hall (5.5 miles). York is within reach (28 miles) where you can spend the day discovering the Minster, Jorvik Viking Centre, and the Shambles. The Folk Museum at Hutton-le-Hole (9 miles) and Mount Grace Priory (27.5 miles) make fun days out, and Malton (16 miles) is a great spot for foodies with a brilliant range of artisanal food producers, cafes, restaurants, and shops to visit.

A super cottage with off road parking close to the busy town centre of Helmsley. The downstairs toilet is a boon for people with some mobility problems. The garden is also a plus - the weather was really sunny and warm during our stay and being able to sit outside was great.

This is a very comfortable property in a location close to the centre of Helmsley. The town itself offers several attractions and places of interest. Its also a great base for exploring this wonderful part of the country.

A fantastic holiday let, ideal for a couple or small family. Cottage has all you need for a comfortable weeks stay. The property is only a five minute walk from Helmsley market square with all its shops and pubs. Local garage with shop is only 150 meters away if youre short of milk etc.

Ferne Cottage is a lovely, comfortable, well equipped and well furnished cottage in a quiet cul-de-sac just off the main road. On site parking is a real bonus. It is only a short walk to the main square where there is a good selection of shops and eating places. We highly recommend a stay here.

An ideal,compact, comfy and cosy base a five minute walk from centre of Helmsley with added bonus of parking. With a well equipped kitchen to prepare and serve meals and appliances such as dishwasher, washer, dryer as well as cooker, microwave and fridge with ice box . Ferne cottage is in a fantastic location in Helmsley, only a five minute walk to the market square town centre where you will find shops, cafes, two pubs and a small micro brewery and bar. This property is very well maintained and the most spotlessly clean property we have stayed in! The location is great and having an enclosed garden for the dog was a bonus! We will definitely return to this cottage next time we visit Helmsley.

Gorgeous cottage ideally located to the market town of Helmsley which is literally a 5 minute walk away. The cottage is lovely and very well equipped. Very secure garden which was ideal for our pooch. Very nice welcome pack which included a scrummy cake. Ideally located to use as a base for visiting, Malton, York and Whitby to name a few. Coop nearRead moreby with Asda & Morrisons in Malton. Ate out a couple of times at The Royal Oak and also at Porters tea room. Will hopefully visit again in future. Hide

An excellent cottage in a very quiet area. Helmsley is a great location for visiting other popular attractions. The cottage was ideal for two or three people and beautifully kept. The owners are very welcoming and easy to contact if necessary.

Ferne Cottage is a clean, modern property in a quiet cul-de-sac, and a 5 minute walk into Helmsley. The owners had provided a welcome pack for our arrival. The sofa & bed were both comfy and the shower was very good. Sturdy outside furniture is available if needed. While in the area we visited nearby Nunnington Hall, the Folk Museum (Hutton-Le-HoleRead more) & Mount Grace Priory - all worth a visit, as are Chatsworth & Whitby.
