Nestled away in Robin Hood’s Bay, a hidden gem itself on the Yorkshire coastline, this cosy cottage is a true romantic escape for two. Within the village, the cottage is set back a little from the bay to ensure peace and tranquillity, yet with boutique shops and fresh seafood eateries less than half a mile away and the beach around 100 metres from home. Historic, steep stone steps lead up to this 17th-century character cottage, a comfortable place to stay that’s also dog-friendly with bowls and treats left out for your four-pawed friends.
Enter the property directly into the kitchen/diner where a pebble-effect electric fire creates a warm spot to warm up cold hands and toes after a long, rewarding hike or swim. Pop the kettle on for a quality Yorkshire brew and begin to settle in. The lounge is decorated with soft seating options, a quality Sonos sound system and a Smart TV next door, creating a restful space to unwind on an evening. Upstairs, the first floor is split into a double bedroom with an exceptionally comfortable bed and a quality, modern bathroom with a refreshing rainfall shower over a bath. The accommodation’s final highlight is the patio garden directly outside, furnished with a table and chairs and a chimenea to sit by when the temperature drops.
As well as being an extremely appealing, scenic seaside destination, Robin Hood’s Bay is also well-connected for walkers and bike riders. Famous trails including the Cleveland Way and the Cinder Track run through the village, while it’s also the starting point of the mighty Coast to Coast walk which leads 182 miles cross-country to St Bees, Cumbria. Much closer to home, you can walk to Whitby (6 miles) or Scarborough (13 miles) with ease, following a clifftop route and admiring seals in the waters as you go.
